All 3 had spells where they were in good form and could have got a cap if selected.

Intersting choice was arguably better than Richard Wright when he was at arsenal.

    Another suggestion Lee clark.

Matt Taylor - was brilliant at Pompey and could pass and shoot with both feet, although he was naturally left-sided but never tried out at a time when England were crying out for a left-sided player.

Matt Le Tissier was also shamefullly overlooked (and thats from a Portsmouth supporter).

Guy Whittingham - at least deserved a chance after 99 goals in 4 seasons (47 in his last at the club) even though in the old Div 2.

Why are people naming players who have won international caps when the thread is about players who never won one?

Matt Taylor should have gone to the World Cup in 06 instead of Stewert Downing IMO. (and that's from a Southampton supporter) ;)

Surely you could use Wikipedia to find out how many caps he won, in doing so avoiding mention of yet another capped player.

A potentially really good thread being ruined.

Definatly always remains a mystary why he wasn`t given a chance, as you say english left sided.

just from a West Ham point of view

    Julian Dicks
    Tony Gale

    billy bonds and steve bruce

agreed they were both amongst the best defendes of their time and it;s staggering how they never won more caps. I think Billy Bonds was even more suprising as Ron Greenwood would of known all about him from his time at West Ham.

I know he won one cap but I think you should add Phil Parks to the list any other time Phil Parks would of won a whole bucket full of caps but was just very unlucky to be around at the same time as Shilton and Clemence,

From a more selfish point of view, I though Noel Whelan was locked in for a callup when he was in his pomp with us. Steve Froggatt too, who did get a callup I remember but had his career ended not long after.

Nigel Reo-Coker. Hopefully one day though.

He was a standby player for the 2006 World Cup. Bit of trivia for you.

I got a call at one point, but I'd already committed myself to Ireland sadly.
