Im astonished Dirty Harry was a premiere, I know it took longer for films to get to tv then but DH was made in 1971. Tremendous rating for it given its late finish.
And its strange to think of The Two Ronnies away from weekends for first showings. Again a fantastic figure.
Thanks for the information.
And on a Friday night Itv were showing a Weekend World special on the miners strike for three hours, whatever rating would that have got, even then.
I don't normally watch EE but I'm watching this week to see what the fuss is about. I actually really enjoyed it too tonight. Hopefully the rest of the week delivers great drama and great ratings .
Issue is " if" the BBC trust says no, what do they do with no programmes commissioned.
There are programmes being / already commissioned: the budget's being cut and what's left is moving online if the plans go ahead, remember.
They're doing something with the budget to allow for the contingency of a No from the Trust. I can't find the link I read but it might have involved underspending this year, to allow for higher spending next year if it's a No, or something like that.

Most of that money will be spent on rights to other shows, which is a shame. Personally, I'd like to see them invest in their own formats, particularly quiz and game shows. But that's just me
You might be the only person I've ever read that wants more gameshows to be made... ;-)

Perhaps a reprieve for Waterloo Road. It could continue as a weekly 8pm show on BBC3. A shame the ratings couldn't have maintained around 1million or so as it would have been a good fit for 8pm BBC3.
But which bits were live and which weren't, I couldn't tell (which was probably the whole point) and couldn't see any hash tag on my TV.
Do you have the correct aspect ratio set up on your TV? Some people set their TV to zoom when watching a film with black bars, then forget and leave it on that setting all the time.
And its strange to think of The Two Ronnies away from weekends for first showings. Again a fantastic figure.
One reason why that series of The Two Ronnies was on Wednesdays was because that was usually the Dallas slot but the Beeb had dropped it because Thames had just poached it, breaking the gentleman's agreement that the Beeb and ITV didn't get involved in bidding wars for imports because it would push up the prices. Thames hadn't even consulted with the rest of the ITV companies before buying it, which they did in secret.
So Michael Grade immediately dropped the Beeb's remaining episodes and said they weren't going to show them so the Thames episodes wouldn't make any sense. But in the end the Beeb relented and announced on the first Wogan they would show them in a few weeks, and Thames ended up giving Dallas back.
Anyway, while all that went on the Rons were moved to midweek to fill the gap.
Thought I'd post this - ratings for EE 25th anniversary week. It jumped 5m from the Thursday episode to the live episode so the same could happen this week.

Incredible ratings that week. I'm under no illusion that we will get ANYWHERE near that this time round, but it would sure be nice for just the live to reach 11.4m! Also - BBC3 was at 10pm regularly back then so those repeat figures wouldn't be caught this time, its been moved about on BBC3 for a few years now so that audience isn't as strong, plus most people have a Catch-Up service of some sort, outside of tablets and PCs, a lot of TVs have iPlayer or recording facilities.
Anything above 8m will make my day for last night.

#EELive week began last night with a mighty 9.03m/39.8% tuning in from 7.30pm. The episode peaked with 9.6m.
Very good start. I always reckoned there was about 1 million extra casuals who tuned in assuming it was all live and may have been disappointed that it wasn't so there may be a dip tonight BUT ofcourse the "WhoYou" Saga seems to have invoked alot of discussion and newspaper inches so it should help

I think if it were to dip then tomorrow it would be back up.
Yes #WhoYou had trended and the press all got into it too.
The cliffhanger sure got people talking.

FANTASTIC! Bodes rather well for the rest of the week.
Highest overnight since 1 January 2013 I think.

Amazing!
On ITV, live #ChampionsLeague coverage of #PSGvCFC averaged 4.37m/19.6% from 7.30pm.
I think (not sure) since 1 January 2013. The figure I have for that episode is 9.09m and that was the highest rated of the year.
Biggest since NYD 2013

Just over 2 years. Not bad going.
It's getting the ratings it deserves.
I'm going to guess and say tonight will do better as its on later and that it's been had lots of promotion.
