Dan O'Hagan supports Wolves but commentated on Norwich a lot in his earlier career so I think has a vested interest in them

Oh, so he does. But as you say, he did have a regular association with Norwich when he used to work for Anglia.

They didn't 'ditch it'. Setanta won the rights

I think what they mean is that between 2005 and 2007, when they still had the rights to Monday night games, the coverage was the same as Super Sunday and when there were no matches on the Monday they didn't do anything at all - although in those days they did have The Last Word on Sunday nights. Certainly in that era Mondays were fairly nondescript, there were never many big games on there (I remember Portsmouth and Birmingham being there quite a lot) and they didn't do them very frequently at all.

The MNF is the best SKY do on football, Carragher and Neville make, Chamberlain is safe but a wooden performer. Tyler was biased as ever towards Liverpool last night, when they have quality like Driscoll available to them, why not use him, Tyler's race is run, time for some new blood.

Oh give up being a WUM.

I love it when people are on a deliberate wind up, but, you have got to start being a bit more interesting or controversial as people have got bored now and aren't even biting anymore.

On a wind up because I don't like Tyler's brand of commentary, come off he get's more stick than all the rest of them put together. It is a forum for opinion I don't like him he is blatantly biased. There are commentators on SKY much more to my taste and many others, a point for debate is fair, SKY as well as BBC tend not to give their highest profile gigs to dubious performers.

Tyler gets next to no "stick" on this forum so I don't know what you're talking about. You're the only person who doesn't like him. Are you going to elaborate on exactly how he was biased during last night's match?

Well this one isn't representative then, his bias stands alongside his name. Everything Gerard does is fantastic, everything Liverpool do is great he was willing them to score last night. He will get plenty off me I can't abide his commentary, compare him with Hansen the pundit started off great and went into a long slow decline.

I have always liked Parry, Hawthorne is ok then they have Driscoll and Mann who are very good it is fair for these points to be made.

Utter nonsense, I know it is the internet but not liking Tyler makes me a troll, hardly controversial is it.

IanMatt - bringing twitter mob of views to the thread.

You look on twitter you had City fans complaining Tyler was biased to Liverpool. Then you got Liverpool fans tweeting that Tyler was foaming over City. So if both fans think you are biased in the opposite way - Shows how clearly neutral you are then.

At least when we had QPRKeithJ he slated (mostly) dross commentators not Tyler! ;)

And at least QPRKeithJ kept it reasonably sensible - I doubt even Jon Driscoll himself would put himself above Tyler. :D

Maybe ianmatt isn't on the wind-up and genuinely believes what he says (and to be fair everyone's allowed a view) but I hope he isn't expecting it to be the majority view - and disagreeing with him about a commentator he hates does not mean we're 'related' to said commentator.
I more suspect he's on the wind-up though (especially since he seems to hate most of the people that are the most highly praised on this thread)

In other news, I noticed Carragher last night was another person to use 'we' when referring to an ex-club (Liverpool). As I say it's a pet peeve of mine and just makes the pundit sound unprofessional and as if they're going to be slightly blinkered and biased (even if they're actually criticised their former team at the same time).

I have now - thanks for the link. :) (There's also a related article, posted on The Guardian web site at the same time, curiously: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/aug/23/pundits-gary-neville-jamie-carragher-accuracy-honesty)

MNF was always great in the good old Keys and Gray days, but these 3 really have taken it to a whole new level in recent seasons.

It's truly amazing now to think Sky were willing to ditch it for a few years, just because they got the Champions League rights, which took up Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and they couldn't be bothered to do Mondays as well. :o It's now the highlight of the Sky Sports week (when they can get a game played on a Monday night, that is, of course).

I agree, by far and away gthe best football analysis on the box.
However we get it what 12 times a season and other weeks we get nothing.
And with the axing of The Footballer's Football Show there is now a real dearth of intelligent detailed football analysis on a channel that has all the time in the world to do a much better job than it does.

I'm sorry but it's up to me who I reply to. I wanted to see of he could give me a clear, specific example of Tyler's bias during last night's match, as he claims he's not a troll and just had a different opinion. He didn't give me one, so is clearly a troll. The situation is clear. I won't be discussing anything with him again.

I've said it many times but a MNF-lite show (say with only one of Gary or Carragher so at least them appearing together doesn't get too repetitive) for weeks when they have no Monday game would be good.

It'd only need to be say 60 or 90 minutes but would mean we get the strong MNF analysis every week - plus it'd be good filler for some of the Sky Sports channels. I'm sure the demand from viewers would be there and I'm sure they could easily fill the show with analysis of the weekend's action so I don't know why Sky haven't done it yet.

As you say, it's slightly ridiculous that you can sometimes get 2 MNFs in a row then go nearly 2 months without one.

So on ITV4 it's Matt with Kenny Dalglish, with his coat on, and Gordon Strachan, with Matterface and Townsend. On SS5 Jeff is with Charlie Nicholas, who was there for the Zenit game earlier, and Didi Hamman, with Weaver and Gale on the Porto game. Palmer and Hinchcliffe were on Zenit earlier.

And on SS1 it's Simon Thomas presenting Franchise vs Man U with David May. And Mann and Goodman commentating.

Correction on the above was Gale, not Gibson with Weaver. As Steve posted.

Zenit v Liege - Rob Palmer and Andy Hinchcliffe
APOEL v Aalborg - Tony Jones and Garry Birtles
BATE v Slovan Bratislava - Kevin Keatings and Andy Walker

    Tuesday 26th August - ITV

    UEFA Champions League Extra Time

Matt Smith presented from pitchside at Celtic Park alongside Gordon Strachan and Andy Townsend

Celtic v NK Maribor - Sam Matterface and Andy Townsend, with Leon Mann conducting post-match interviews

    Tuesday round-up - Richard Henwood

Similar to last Tuesday's highlights show, they used the majority of the team working on ITV4's live coverage with the exception of Andy Townsend swapping for Kenny Dalglish as the secondary pundit. Unlike last week, we got a full round-up of all of the night's other goals and significant action with a proper voiceover, which was nice to see on an otherwise miserable night.
