I'm intrigued to see how they do this. So little is known about the woman and her disappearance from history still hasn't been explained.

An interesting choice for them to run with.

    Neffy's costume was quite unusual, she had a dalek theme going on.:D

    From what I'm aware, it was never explicitly said there'd be no arc this year. The impression I got was that there was something, albeit something more subtle, building up this year.

    Given the Moff's fondness to carry over storylines a lot more during series, it wouldn't surprise me if there was a loose story arc this year that leads into whatever is coming for the 50th.

    He's probably gone back to RTDs method of "arcing" which is just subtle hints at what's to come and some kind of recurring theme or phrase like Bad Wolf which then leads to whatever is coming in the 50th.

    Nit-picking I know, but at the end when Neffi and Riddell were together back in 1902, how did they understand each other? Away from the influence of the Tardis, all Riddell would hear out of her mouth would be a form of Middle Egyptian language.

    I'm sure Riddell had a classical education and whilst her life pre-dated Latin she might have some enough Mycenaean Greek for them to struggle through. :D

    Surely her disappearance was explained by her staying with Riddell?
