I was a big fan of Glitter from his early days. Whilst I now detest the man and his behaviour, I still like his music.
If I listen to it now I feel dirty and want a shower afterwards, but I still find myself unconciuosly singing along.
Like what you like and who cares what other people think!
I have no difficulty at all in divorcing a person from their work. I love Gary Glitter's songs and always will. They were a part of my teenage years and will always be a small part of the soundtrack to my life.
I still think that Two Little Boys and Sun Arise - from Rolf Harris' oeuvre - are brilliant songs despite what we now know about the man.
Show me a painting and ask me if I like it. If I like it I'll say so. I will not change my mind if you then tell me that it's one of the ones that Adolf Hitler painted that have survived.
Winston Churchill once said, "Create a classic work of art and be a berk. You being a berk does not diminish that work of art. It just means that you're a berk and should just p*ss off!"
[well no, actually he didn't, but he should have done!]
