I watched a youtube vlog recently that mentioned that in almost all night scenes in movies they wet the roads to have a special "look" or "effect" .

I don't now how true this is but I was wondering what other well known or little known movie facts are known.

To quote Paul Whitehouse' character 'brilliant' from
The Fast Show; ' Aren't sequels brilliant? They're the
same film but with a number, like two, or three.....'

Michael Myers' mask in Halloween is a Captain Kirk mask painted white.

Bender in Futurama was named after John Bender in The Breakfast Club.

If that isn't trivia, I don't know what is :D

In 'Pretty Woman' , Julia Roberts was not told that Riichard Gere would be snapping the case shut when she goes to touch the necklace,

It was an homage to a scene in 'Roman Holiday' when Gregory Peck puts his hand into the mouth of a statue and pretends that it has bitten his hand off, much to the horror of Audrey Hepburn who was not aware that he was going to do it.

Gene Hackman was to play Lecter in Silence Of The Lambs, but had a change of heart just before filming. I always thought Ollie Reed would have been perfect.

Before his untimely death in 73 Bruce Lee was going to make a martial arts "buddy" film with Elvis.

In Star Trek: The Voyage Home, the character of Gillian, the Whale expert was originally meant to be played by Eddie Murphy.

The film would've had even more of those colorful metaphors.

Mel Brooks was an uncredited executive producer of The Elephant Man. He didn't want people to expect a comedy about such a tragic story.

She "bribed" the man doing the IQ test with a little sweetener to smooth her path to genius status.

    One of my favourite films.

It certainly sounds like Martin Sheen and I have sat and watched it a couple of Times with headphones on.

    Nope...an oft disputed urban myth.

Firstly, the image was actually a cardboard standee of Danson's character from a theatre/tv production that was supposed to have featured in the film, but the scene was cut.

Secondly, the myth behind this legend is that a young boy commited suicide in the building in which the film was made...hence the ghost...however, the film was shot on a soundstage/studio, hence the whole thing is nonsense.

Another myth - the black and white scenes in If... were there because they'd either ran out of colour film or ran out of money and were forced to use B/W stock.

Truth is the school chapel scenes were going to be difficult to light correctly for colour and location time was limited. Dir. Lindsay Anderson then chose to shoot them in B/W, and liked it so much he chose other sequences to shoot in B/W later on.
