He's hit the ground running with us and it's made such a difference.
No knocking our spirit today and great that we won but on the other side of the coin our defence looked all at sea at times, especially in the second half.
big decision to be made about Cabaye IMO. he has his qualities but we look an all round better side without him in the starting line-up. Would prefer him on the bench and coming on if needed.
It's become blindingly obvious to all and sundry lately that the trio of McPunchley works better than with Cabaye in there but he's one of Pardews favourites so I would still expect him to be shorehorned in to the side.
This picture made me laugh >>Link.<< Pards can be such a smug git
Good point, well-earned and one that I would have taken before the match.
First half we were a bit slow to get going but we dominated a lot of the second half and were unlucky not to win it.
Benteke is a beast of a man. His all round play was terrific and his header just majestic. What a difference having a top class striker has made to us.
Probably a fair result in the end . As Satt says what a difference it makes having a decent striker makes .
Bolasie for Benteke is looking like a great bit of business A sobering stat Palace picked up more points in September this year ( 10 ) than in January, February, March & April combined ( 8 ) 17 games played , It makes you realize just how poor the second half of last reason really was .
Looks like our poor home record from last season is going to continue this season. we look so inept sometimes. and why are we still so poor against 10 men? that has been going on for ages.
Overall that was poor today. but so predictable with Palace.
I had a feeling all week that we would end up losing this one.
Against a side low on confidence and shipping goals for fun, you could have put money on us not turning up. The International break came at the wrong time.
Putting aside the home form (how long has that been going on for now?) two other concerns:
1) How ineffectual we continue to be when we find ourselves up against 10-men. This has been happening for a few seasons now. More often that not we look clueless when presented with this situation.
2) The lack of clean sheets. It's tough enough in this division as it is without going in to each match needing to score at least twice to have any chance of winning.
One more thing - can we have Jedinak back to take penalties please!
i'll tell you another concern... since we got promoted our record in london derbies is a load of crap...
before the international break we looked like we had finally clicked as a side, playing some good stuff... then yesterday in the 1st half we looked like a bunch of strangers again.
2nd half was better but too many players were just off their game... yet another massive disappointment at home...

McArthur's been amazing in the slightly further forward role.

Mandanda, Ward, Tomkins, Delaney, Kelly, McArthur, Ledley, Townsend, Puncheon, Zaha, Benteke.
Subs: Flamini, Cabaye, Campbell, Hennessey, Lee, Fryers, Wickham.
Can't argue with that team, including Cabaye left out. Just keep Bolasie quiet please.
why wasn't it an indirect free kick? why didn't the wall jump?
Bentekeeeeeeeeee!
a point was the least we deserved. We played very well in the 2nd half and were robbed of a 2nd goal by inept officials again.

Another poor home performance overall so far. even Bentekes penalty was awful. and another game without a clean sheet - that's 13 on the spin now.
Bilic has got his tactics spot on so far. they have done a real number on us and deserve the lead.
