  James was also a great side kick for Tom Edwards on the Radio 2 Saturday early show in the Seventies.As well as reading the news he also helped out with wedding day requests.I met him in 1974.He was a lovely,entertaining man.

  Very sad news. I seem to remember him before he started to read the football results as a newsreader and announcer on BBC Radios 1 and 2. It was part of the joys of radio listening on my new radio which could pick up both stations.

  JamesAlexander Gordon is a broadcasting legend. He read the results perfectly, clearly and with authority every week. Such quality reading may nevvver be heard regularly again on the radio.

  It's sad news that James Alexander Gordon has died. He was 1 of the BBC's most versatile broadcasters. He did more that just read out the football results.
