Shops will never open on Xmas, they'd have to overcome the combined forces of the hard right wing Christian conservatives and hard left wing trade unions to do it and that ain't happening.

Yeah, my appreciation of the christmas spirit meant I failed to click on the christmas hours link... you're right :o

However my local spar is open from 9 to 3 tomorrow... the poor sods!

And you dont get much more hard-core religious than NI... facks sake, we had Rev Ian Paisley (aka the man who believes alcohol is satan's vomit) as our first citizen, yet the smaller 7 day a week food stores and garages are open for a bit tomorrow.

Well done. Not only have you stolen their thunder, they now run the risk of starting a thread on this very subject, only to have someone tell them the issue's already been covered here. :D

Head over to your local Tesco. If the doors are locked, then I would presume they are shut.

    All the best.

You'd think that the minimum wage paid to the staff would be reward in itself for making sure the shop is open on Xmas day. Maybe thats what I should do as someone who doesn't really celebrate Xmas-open a pound shop and keep it open on Xmas. It'd be a roaring success!

Just been down to my local Tescos and the doors are shut there is nobody there though there are a few cars on the car park. There must be something very wrong today because they never usually shut. There are lights inside I wonder if they have a number of staff inside preparing to stock the shelves with Easter Eggs and to re-price all the Christmas stuff left over at either BOGOF or 75% off.

I remember about 10 years ago, the Woolworths in Brixton was open for four hours on Christmas Day!

The easy solution would be if those who desperately wanted a shop open on Christmas Day volunteered to spare their time to go in, open and run it.

    Problem over :)

Surely they usually close on Christmas Day.

Yes they do. Not sure why Caxton thinks otherwise?

If you read the thread again, carefully, you will see that the thread is in fact a wind up :)
