EastEnders: Which characters do you love and hate?

EastEnders used to be full of vibrant and exciting characters, many of which the viewers cared about. I think the current cast is very weak all thanks to the appalling characters introduced by Bryan Kirkwood and Lorraine Newman. There are also a few old relics I can't stand the sight of.

So, who do you love and who do you hate?

Most characters I hate. The writers seem to have forgotten how to make characters for the audience to like- remember characters are supposed to reflect reality so us viewers can relate to them. The only character I currently give two hoots about is Ian Beale. I love Sharon BUT the writing for her has been terrible and so I don't care if I see her. These days, if Ian's not an episode I won't watch. He is the only reason I watch.

If Adam Woodyatt ever quit then that could be the end of EE for me

I think Sharon was brought back mainly to show the Brannings as EE's 1st family- hence plonking her straight away with Tanya and Jack. That was the first mistake for her as Sharon works best with characters with whom she has history with- so the only Branning she should have spoken to was Dot (though tbf Dot was absent at the time). Scott Maslen is such a bad actor he brings down everyone with him and Letita, though better, isn't amazing either so Jack and Sharon failed there. Then they tried to recreate Phil and Sharon- but it was too forced because TPTB didn't show the complexities of their relationship and just put them together. Now Sharon has no family (though I think she should fit in as a matriarch for the Beales- Ian's her oldest friend and is one of the few people he listens to. And Sharon needs a real friend).

I agree, I didn't mind Ian/Denise at first but I really don't like them. I'd rather Jane or Mandy was with him. Or stay singe ad have Sharon take on the role of the woman in his life

Maybe Ian would be more suited to newcomer Sadie? I'm sure a good relationship between them could have been developed. Ian is way out of Denise's league.

I really hope David Wicks isn't given the same treatment Sharon has received by the lazy, useless scriptwriters because her return was hyped up and overrated.

There are very few characters I love in EE currently. My list would be

Used to love

Kat,but all the positive qualities have been destroyed
Roxy - she was sacrified for Kalfie
Max - ruined by the endless love triangles and affairs
Janine - I think making her a mother spoilt the character.Decided I like poor Janine more.

I'm confident with the right writing and direction,I could love the above again. I'd also David Wicks to the love list when he returns.

Michael is the only character I currently love. The rest of them annoy me or I outright hate them. Janine is okay at the minute but only because of her association with Michael. Someone needs to fix these characters pronto.
