Britain's Got Talent runner up Susan Boyle was admitted to The Priory clinic last night suffering with exhaustion.

Police were summoned to her hotel and the singer was assessed under the Mental Health Act after she had an 'emotional breakdown' following her shock defeat in the show's final.
But, despite her distress at missing out to dance troupe Diversity, coming second was the best thing that could have happened to her, judge Piers Morgan has declared.

    :eek::eek:

I am sorry to hear that if it's true. Susan Boyle is a gentle, mild mannered slightly eccentric, inappropriate lady, who has difficulty in communicating her feelings. I believe her family were worried about this when she first won her audition. I can see why.

The thrust of world attention and media has been massive, no one could have prepared her for that. I doubt many could cope with it! So for me, I am sad that it has come to this, am just grateful that she hasn't got to put up with the pressure that Diversity will no doubt be under. But at least there is safety in numbers with them, they have each other.

:D It's not really suprising is it, from what i've seen of her she seems to be a few cans short of a six pack.

Her behaviour seems to be less than normal somehow. And exhausted..what from 3 songs over a period of about 7 weeks.? Or did she fall so easily into her own hype.?

She is a shy private person who rarely left her own home town and saw few people. Then all of a sudden she is a you tube phenomenon, appears on Oprah and has the world's media camped out on her doorstep.

How would most people react in that situation.

no-one forced her to do what she's done. i hope this means i never see her (actually, rather good) impression of a blind person again.

Nervous exhaustion, which is the cause being cited, can floor some people quite quickly.

Aw bless her, I wasn't a fan but I can imagine there was quite a bit of strain and pressure on her given how famous she has become.

I have to say the original article is really quite appalling (as most tabloid style articles are). It mentions no specific person as a source of its information and it constantly refers to Susan not coming 1st as to suggest that as a reason why she is unwell I dabbled in a bit of journalism in college and we were told these were not things to do when writing a piece. Its probably therefore a highly fictionalised account of what is actually going on.

Best wishes to Susan if she is unwell and well done again to diversity. I hope these trashy stories do not take focus from there win.

She has a mild learning disability, apparently caused by difficulties during her birth. She's also led a very sheltered life, it's no surprise she's finding it tough.

I think nasty comments and forums on SuBo have contributed to her breakdown. She is just too fragile to be on the zoo that is BGT - she's a simple, middle aged lady who has been thrust into the limelight - how could she have known it would take off like this - the attention has stunned even experienced show business execs. I mean Demi Moore twittering and Oprah interview then Lily Allen's mean comments..who wouldn't be overwhelmed??

I think she should be managed carefully - she's not just another money making machine for syco - the whole reality talent thing needs to looked at carefully - it's starting to look like public humiliation for entertainment..a lot like the knitting ladies at the guillotine sites.

Maybe you should read a bit more of her life, before saying that

She has indeed been overhyped, and its taken its toll on SuBo.

That's not nice, the woman has genuine difficulties and has been hyped up since her first audition on BGT.

Then the attacks started, Susan Boyle had been put under immense pressure.

I hope she gets well soon. She deserves a break.

My heart really goes out to her.

Ive been there, taken into hospital for mental health issues myself, fairly similar.

I really really do hope she can regain herself, hold her head up high and be the world wide artist she deserves to be.

I personally dont think she could handle it Danny. If you remember, Susans audition on BGT.. she came out on stage, the audience laughed, she cared not and sang her heart out.. After that she turned to walk of stage. She just wanted to sing that one time in front of a big audience.

It's a shame really, she will make a bit of money out of all this, but a world wide audience?? I dont think she'd cope to well.

Hopefully I'll be proved wrong, she's a nice lady caught up in media hype.

I know as I work with people with disabilities I'm going to understand things more than people who don't, but it constantly amazes me how unkind and ignorant people can be.
On one hand it gets me really cross, on the other more considered hand I realise just how badly people are 'taught' about disability - if you don't know, how can you understand?
Especially people with a mild learning disability, your average person in the street often won't realise they have a disability, just that they're 'strange' or 'eccentric' - in fact just ordinary life can be hugely challenging for them, then multiply that by a 100 for being in the BGT bubble.
Often their eccentricity is tolerated or considered amusing while they're being 'weird' or 'funny', then, heaven forbid they get cross, frustrated or unhappy like anybody else and its "they can't cope", "lock 'em away" - Susan Boyle needs support with this fame business, it may need to be specialist support, it may need to belong lasting; but that isn't a reason for her to not have her chance. I mean look at the number of celebs with 'mainstream' intelligence who need help with it too.
My hope is that she gets the support she needs to do what she wants to do; sing, make records and have success - and that we, as in the public, realise she isn't always going to be rationale or controlled as we would expect people to be.
Anyway fame an human behaviour, who's coping best: Susan Boyle or Joey Barton, Susan Boyle or Jodie Marsh, Susan Boyle or any number of other celebs???

She was starved of o2 at birth at birth which left her with some mild brain damage.

It really sad though for her, the press really had no gain to get from trying to make her out to be "talentless" and all this like they have in the past week.

I imagine a film will be made from her story... It really is a Hollywood script that you couldn't write any better. The ups and the down of a small village lady, who eventually breaks under it all :-(

I thought on Saturday night she didn't look right. She seemed very subdued and only seemed happy when she lost!! I hope Simon and his team are looking after her, he seemed generally concerned about her as did the other judges.

Poor woman. Not in the least surprised it's all become too much for her. I wonder if the media will ever take responsibility for anything. The kindest thing they could do now is to stop writing about her and leave her to get her life back in peace.

Nerous exhaustion is not a real condition. And you don't get assessed under the Mental Health Act (i.e. sectioned) for being exhausted. Most likely cause was she had or was threatening to self-harm

I was saddened when I heard the news about Susan.
She seems like a lovely lady.
I do wish the media would leave her alone.
