Quick question to some on here and I know it is hyperthetical
If we had had a Conservative Govt at the time, do you think they would NOT have gone into Iraq ? Personally I think it is a cast iron certainty. Whoever was PM would have done the same thing. Convinced of that.
Proibably, but perhaps they wouldn't have allowed this country to have rung up £bns of debt, but that's hypothetical too.
I'd be hard-pressed to choose between the two. Blair is worse at the moment because of the Iraq War fiasco, but Cameron is catching him up the further he shackles us to America interests in Syria.
I feel the same way and that it is quite scary the way things are heading with Obama regarding Syria and it seems that where Obama goes Cameron is going to foolishly follow. History repeating itself - see Bush / Blair = Iraq.

Hopefully we'll have a revolution before then and take them all to Trafalgar Square in carts.
Just seeing this man's name brings a red mist over my eyes. How some feel about the late Margaret Thatcher is how I feel about Tony Blair. I think he's the worst thing that ever happened to this country, bar nothing.
Say what you like about Blair, but he did a hell of a lot for gay rights. People forget that under the Tories, gays weren't even second class citizens. The only thing that annoyed me was that Blair chickened out over gay marriage and instead introduced the fudge of civil partnerships, which is going to produce a ludicrous inequality next year that gay people can get married OR have a civil partnership and straight people only have the option of marriage.

Yes, and that is the ONLY thing I can think of in his favour.

I concur. The man is a disgrace.
Never was there a more sickening sight than this person jetting around the world, earning millions as some kind of statesman and 'peace envoy'.
if I was married to Cherie I'd be tempted to cheat.
I think Cherie is even worse than Tony in a way. I think she used his position of power to pull a lot of strings in terms of getting the compensation culture and rights for criminals really moving forward. Let's not forget how she had that scandal with the flats and got off scott free, and how much damage she's done for women in terms of pushing women into thinking they must all have high flying careers/be a working mum no matter how unsuited the individual is to that.
I know he's a popular folk devil and hate figure, but if you actually look at some of the things his government accomplished, there was a hell of a lot of good, too. I'm no fan of his (quite the opposite) but he wasn't the demon people like to make out.

Cherie Blair took on the case of a jailed rapist, who had stalked a woman he did not rape, and continued to pester her with letters from prison. When the woman wrote a letter to the penal and judicial services saying she feared for her safety if he was paroled, the man alleged that was libellous and got Cherie to take on his case. It won and the woman became liable to thousands of pounds damages.

So a hell of a lawyer, then. I mean, that is one profession that positively encourages a lack of morals.
I read somewhere that while Tony was PM, he made a new law everyday all throughout. Is that true? Didn't he made a law that you can (or can't - not sure which) shot squirrel or something. I'm on my ipad and this thing is crashing on me so i can't google.

Agreed!

He's a socialist?
No much much worse than that ... he is a cheater
I think socialist would have been more unbelievable than that.
Not wishing to be unkind, but if I was married to Cherie I'd be tempted to cheat.
Hasn't it been denied? Also where the basis to all these rumors - where did it all start from? Original source
Wow shock horror Blair tells lies

More Belial than Asmodeous?

The other two being politicians and the clergy
Well played.
You have to wonder how these people can sleep at night, though.
In a way it must be very freeing to have no moral compass whatsoever.
He likes to spread the love?
On his governemnt at that time yes, not on a subsequent government as he is no longer in charge.
