it all seems very creepy and worrying if its always required on

I honestly don't think kinect will need 2 be plugged in @ all (like the 360) ... Microsoft aren't stupid they know 10000s of households aren't suitable thus causing disgruntled customers 2 jump ship 2 Sony / Nintendo ... but i believe It'll still be included with the xboxone regardless of whether u use it or not!
The movie patent doesn't sound like anything that would actually happen and you could always just block the camera with something if you are feeling paranoid.
Then like I've stated previously they'll lose customers ... & quite rightly so imo ... It's that simple ... I've already decided I'm getting a ps4 instead so it doesn't bother me tbh.
As one person said, there are 7 billion people on the planet. Why are you significant enough to spy on?
Yes, its always on, only to hear you say "Xbox On".
You do know that our Government want to track emails, phone calls and online behaviour too, right? Not to mention that this country has millions of CCTVs.
One way or another, you're being watched. People may not like that, but its the reality we live in.
You'll probably have room for Kinect 2. The tech has improved a lot, plus MS would be stupid to think that everyone has a huge lounge/bedroom.
The camera on the Kinect 2 has a higher field of view than the current one, enabling it to be used in smaller spaces. This was confirmed in the reveal.
It's not just the room size I'm saying no to (it would be in a bedroom and there isn't enough room to swing a cat) I mean putting in where the TV is. The console itself would take up any room left should I retire the 360 and that would leave no where amid my other stuff for that equally massive camera.
Another reason why I may not buy it.
but will it be core for all features if i plugged out kinect while watching a movie would the system shut off.. seems like its being forced down our troats
Especially given that the new Kinect bar looks quite large:

If Kinect is as has been suggested a mandatory thing then I definitely won't be getting an Xbox One.
Same will be true if the Move camera is mandatory with the PS4.
Ah... good point.
I have the current Kinect, which sits on top of my TV courtesy of a 3rd party bracket thing.
The new one looks bigger...I really want to see just how it would/could go on top of an HDTV, given that they're not very deep... I don't think the camera could go below, instead, as it looks too big to sit at the base.

More and more it seems to be about controlling what people see and pay and also 'spy' on how people behave while using the Xbox.
The DRM part of the Kinetic patent:

Of course Microsoft say:
"Microsoft has contacted MCV with comment, which reads, “Microsoft regularly applies for and receives patents as part of its business practice; not all patents applied for or received will be incorporated into a Microsoft product”."
My though is that they can easily incorporate the functions in any Xbox software update at a point in the future when they think the loss of income from Xbox One purchases will be less than the money earnt from this sort of control.
I was considering getting one early for a change...until they offer the XBox One without a Kinetic (and hence cheaper for one thing) they can go jump.
My thoughts exactly, if it wasn't for Kinect I would buy the XBOX ONE, it's not all this spying guff that puts me off, I just want to play games with a controller. I don't want extra bits hanging around that I will never use.
