If you've ever watched the Boat Race or any one of Steve Redgrave's or GB's Olympic victories, you would have heard this man describing it.
Former Oxford rowing coach, author and BBC Sport rowing commentator Daniel Topolski has died aged 69.

A former Oxford blue himself, he established his reputation as Oxford's finishing coach for the Boat Race between 1973 and 1987, before joining the BBC.

He died on Saturday following a lengthy period of ill health.

Five-time Olympic gold medallist Sir Steve Redgrave said: "Rowing will miss him dearly and so will I."

Sad news for rowing. :(

Sad news indeed. I remember him well , and am surprised he was as old as 69.

Sad news indeed. Seems he had been ill for some time - I did wonder why we hadn't heard him on commentary since London 2012.

If you haven't read True Blue (on the Oxford Boat race mutiny) I'd definitely recommend it.
