There are tons of female gamers. A lot of them seem to be into the MMO side of things, and in fact I'm often more surprised to run into guys playing those games these days ^^.
Most of my female friends (and my gf) play games (PC and console), and from all walks of life ...though they do all consider themselves either gay or bi, so maybe gay women are more drawn to gaming? Who knows.
