i agree with everyone about the timing of mitzeee and brendan's storylines. that's what i meant before about mitzeee's - she's leaving this week but it all just feels soo damn rushed.
and as for brendan's....why is he never on screen anymore except for 10 seconds to give ste a kiss on the cheek on his way to work and the odd scene with leah??? where the hell has seamus gone?! i was so excited for the arrival of Pa Brady and it started off so brilliantly, but then it just randomly stopped and we haven't seen seamus at all except a few seconds getting drunk at the pub! his sexual abuse should have been THE major story...the reveals to cheryl and ste...cheryl struggling to come to terms with it and her whole world changing...and most importantly brendan actually facing up to the monstrosity that destroyed his life forever head on and learning to deal with it. that's a frickin' goldmine of a story. i can't for the life of me figure out why they're not properly utilising it.
i'm not actually interested in kevin, and the ste stuff is boring me. i'm just hoping that walker has some pretty wonderfully devious plans up his sleave for "how to destroy brendan brady" that involve seamus in a major way and really kick off soon.
the latest sopilers about ste and doug though.....wtf?
why?
why would ste actually give a flying shit?...he most definitely has more important things going on in his life, and he hasn't exactly spared doug a second thought so far. i'm assuming that the spoilers are exaggerating things and it's not actually got anything to do with doug, but more so to do with the fact that ste and jp always hated each other if memory serves me, and apparently jp goades him and undermines him quite a lot infront of the students. i can see ste's reaction being much more likely if he's already upset about brendan and the kids both being gone and then jp starts calling him stupid infront of everyone.
and given that this is HO, i'm also assuming that we're supposed to just conviently forget about doug's seriously ill father being the reason he left his "failing/dead on it's feet" business to go to america in the first place, and propably also forget that he and ste are married. (if that is brought up, then i'd also quite like it brought up that brendan and jp slept together in dublin too...that would be funny)
BIB - This, exactly this. What are they playing at? There is so little Brendan time left. Why are they wasting so much of it?
Ok, In the all about soap award nominations, in the "Baby Drama" category, did they actually forget Mercedes snatching her own son for money, including a TV spot appealing for help! Why is this not in the noms! Not forgetting she was standing ontop of a block of flats with him!

Agree totally. I can't believe ALREADY that Brendan is going back to Ireland. Why would he go when Ste has just lost his kids thanks to Amy, and also the last time he saw them Eileen made it pretty clear that they don't want him around so why is he going back it doesn't make sense
I really hope that Brendan and Ste are going to be together until 'the end'.
They have wasted so much time already with the Ste and Doug fiasco last year (which it doesn't even sound like the guy who played Doug wanted to happen anyway!). That took up eight months and now we are at the very end of Brendan's story and they are still messing around with Brendan and Ste.
Looks like a former student is returning febuary 18th

As Will's dark fascination with Texas continues, what lengths will he be driven to? Cindy struggles to abide by Tony's intolerable demands, and an abandoned Holly seeks solace elsewhere. Rob struggles to contain his emotions as an old friend arrives back in the village. Darren is given life-shattering news
Also reports annalise to come back so my guess is a return for scott to wrap up either rob or annalises story
.
Anyone wish Mitzeee wasn't leaving there's so many storys she could still be involved in. Good luck to Rachel Shenton in other series and movies. Could have seen her staying around for another two years. Rachel Shenton enjoyed being in hollyoaks and wants to do other things with her acting career.
It'd make an interesting story. Both guys are kinda alone and Doug's breakup was unbearably sad so he should get to be crazy happy.
I still like Doug. But perhaps thats because I take him as he is, not as he used to be years ago.
And I don't expect Ste to have a moral compass about relationships. He was like throwing himself at someone else before and after he got married.. And btw he's still married so they should really do something about that.
I don't believe in love of life type things - specially if that conflicts with ethics.
Its all great drama and good entertainment and I hope all these characters stick around for a long time.
but he was throwing himself at the love of his life so it's entirely different;) I mean he always cheated on the others with Brendan but never on Brendan.
for the record, I believe in the love of life thing and well, sometimes love conflicts with ethic, especially on soaps:p
Anyway, I don't think this plot will have anything to do with stug as a romance, but I rather see it like a way to move Doug and JP closer while having a supposed funny moment with a fight between two characters that never had got along.
I'm being disappointed in how little they're using Brendan, like the others I think they have a lot to exlpore with him and trying to do so just in one week (like with Mitzeee) would be a waste.
Ds block the link .. maybe cause they have competiton just type in Soap squak no spaces where the stars are
it would seem cindy is another character trapped in circles. tony/darren/tony/darren...random evil making money scheme....
it's nearly as bad as tony's mandy/jacqui/cindy/mandy/cindy/jacqui with maybe a bit more mandy somewhere, i can't quite remember.
why can't these characters get a new genuine plot and move on? i don't see the need to continuously bring them back to getting with the person they were with a few years ago. i don't continuously revisit my ex boyfriends. and darren's got a wonderful thing going with nancy - after the disaster that they turned racqui into, they best not mess with that too!

BIB: How could you forget the unforgettable and magnificent Gabby Sharpe! And a bit of Mercy and Theresa thrown in for good measure as well. Oh dear, Tony.
This Cindy stuff's a storm in a teacup. Just a bit of filler, but poor old Cindy. It's like she's pre-programmed to make a fool of herself. Can't HOs find something else for her to do than continually embarrass herself like this?
The whole Mitzeee/Carl/Walker and Brendan/Ste/Walker stuff is oddly separate. Why has nobody mentioned since that while it was Walker who pulled the trigger, it was Brendan who pushed the gun, inadvertently killing Riley?
Mitzeee and Brendan have had enough conversations recently, either about Ste or Walker, but why haven't they discussed that it was a toss-up between Ste and Riley as to who died? I want to see them talk about that - the two loves of their lives, and Riley was the one to die instead of Ste. It all ties nicely together, but they've never mentioned it.
ETA: Sorry, I know this is a bit OT now, I was just thinking about Mitzeee's exit and Walker's involvement.
Is Jim here to stay I seriously can't stand him. I know it's shallow but as if someone who looks like Carmel would go for him cos he's not even got a great personality. If they expect me to buy them as a couple which looks like they might I reckon they need to change him
Is this Mitzeee last week?
When does Brendan leave?
I need to prepare myself, I absolutely love these two characters and wish they were not leaving but good luck to Rachel and Emmett, both been a great assett to Hollyoaks and I will miss them soo much
Totally with you there Priscilla, real shame to see so much talent go ( Rachel, Emmet, Bronagh
Karen and Andrew) hope to see more of them on TV
Having watched Hollyoaks on and off for many years, I've realised that we may be seeing a transition in Hollyoaks from character-led drama to storyline-led drama. Essentially, many have noticed continuity errors, character inconsistencies and personality transplants since the change in personally last year. I believe that the production team have made a conscious decision to concentrate on storyline, and make character development/consistency a secondary factor.
The bullying storyline, for instance, showed characters such as Jen, Diane and briefly Jack acting out of character in order to facilitate the development of the storyline. Similarly, Ste, Frankie and even Rhys before his death seem to be regressing after years of character development in order to create storylines that grow from the character, but from the need to fast-paced and sometimes sensational plots.
Sorry for the rambling - just wanted to see what everyone else thinks.

I find it really odd. Riley and Ann a.k.a Mitzeee were cousins. Regarding the bit in bold i find it funny as it is only half right. Ste and Brendan could be said to be Love of thier lives. Mitzeee's love of her life hasn't come along yet. No matter how much the writers want to try to retcon things to suit them, both Riley and Mitzeee were not the loves of thier lives. If by some bizarre reason they were then why when they were first introduced to the show was Mitzeee having an affair with his dad and did not show the slightest interest in him. Not even certain looks or any hint that they were interested in each other. It was only when they didn't know what to do with Mitzeee that they tried to pair them up and it didn't work. Riley and Lynsey were more convincing.
I wish they hadn't done this weird incest story with Mitzeee and Riley. Mitzeee was an alright character until then. We did start to see her as her self before all the Riley rubbish but now she is leaving so too little too late to repair the damage.

FFS!
I like Doug. I wouldn't mind if he paired up with JP. I just hope he doesn't go back with Ste just so the character can go back to his old self a bit.

Neither do I, he looks permanently grubby with his red nose. Tonight's episode is ridiculous

I agree Reo, I hope Woody doesn't see this as he/she has noticed that I have been agreeing a lot tonight
