Dixons are currently running a web only offer for TiVo's at £99.

The offer says that stocks are limited so hurry.

That's 'cos Dixons and Currys are the same company (so is PC World). And you thought there was competition on the high street!

Looks like Currys and Dixons are now out of stock.

Comet have price matched though on their web site.

I tried at Comet but I could only get the error "Your basket is empty, please select a product" or I suppose they may have run out of TiVo's

I guess this is the end of the Thomson TiVo?

Forgeting the availability, how many new Tivo owners are there now.

I managed to order one from Currys (before I managed to find a discount voucher on a community page!!!) so that makes 1.

    How many others managed it???

.. but remember that an unmodified TiVo cannot change channels on analogue or non-Sky digital set top boxes, so you would need to set the timer on those recievers manually...

Just to clarity this - TiVo can not control analogue satellite on non-Sky Digital satellite set-top-boxes.

It can control almost all UK cable, DTT and Sky set-top-boxes.

    Hi,

    This all sounds very interesting.

But can someone some up for me what this £99 will and won't do?

What modifications are needed to work with a dtt box?

How does it change channels on a DTT box? Send out a signal to emulate the remote control?

I'm tempted, as my VCR is knackered and I don't want to spend money on a replacement for such an outdated technology.

Your £99 buys you a hard disk video recorder. Subscribe for £10 a month or £200 lifetime and you get a fully featured PVR. If you want to know what that can do, look here:

    http://www.tivofaq.co.uk/

Yes, Tivo works with a DTT box without modification.
