Back to Helsinki 1983, still remember that race.

A hot race all over, half-a dozen guys under 45. Never mind, our lot will put them in their places with some big 45.5 performances tomorrow.

You do crack me up with your sarcastic posts about certain Brit athletes :D. Your post the other day about Chris Tomlinson had me in stitches :D:D:D

The theme song of UK Athletics is "You just haven't earned it yet, Bsby" by The Smiths.

Very high quality meet so far. Seems like they've benefited from the 3 week break in the Diamond League programme.

Some big PBs in the women's 800. Big breakthroughs for Rose Mary Almanza and Selina Buchel (both sub-1:58). Buchel ran a very smart race refusing to go with the crazy early pace.

10.74! Shelly-Ann still the one to beat in Beijing?

Once again, our commentators fail to give Blessing Okagbare-Ighotenguonor proper respect.

:D Stuart had a go though after the race finished.

Barshim out with 2.29. Lavillenie out with 5.71 (?)

Who can beat Caterine Ibarguen? On course for 26 in a row.

Greek girl wins the pole vault! Insist you get paid in cash, love, don't let them pay it into your bank.

Barshim and Renauld fluffing it. :o Otherwise there's been some good performances out there so far.

Well, as long as they do the honours occasionally during build up and post race that's fine with me. But cranking out that surname (which doesn't exactly roll off the tongue) during a 100m wouldn't leave much else to talk about.

World Leads, National Records & PBs galore tonight. Another WL in the high hurdles - Ortega 12.94.

It's been coming for a while - good to see Ortega has finally gone under 13 seconds. :)

Amazing how slim Asafa Powell looks now. He has transformed into Kim Collins!

Come on, Genzebe & Almaz. Let's keep it going and deliver that WR tonight! The heat hasn't hampered the middle-distances so far tonight, so I remain hopeful.

Pacemarker probably hasn't earned her keep. The rate at which the two headliners gapped the field once she left is astonishing. Laps ranging from 63 (!) to 73 seconds...not the way to attempt a WR.

They are back on target so it may yet happen. Not long to find out.

To be fair, 14:15.41 is no joke. At all.

For what it's worth, that's the best outdoor track performance Dibaba has ever produced.

As Edward said, the pacing was way too erratic. Plenty left in the tank for Genzebe at the end though, so if they can learn the lessons from tonight the WR could well be hers at some point.

Now time for the men's 100m - and Collins is in the wrong lane. ;) (Has it really been 12 years since that time?!)

Good news is that Valerie Adams is back - not that they will be showing anything of her event, mind.

What did I tell you? Not a single women's shot shown tonight.
