Wouldn't it be far better for the remaining characters and the soap?

I don't like the fact that the writers/LN are too scared and hesitant to kill off popular characters. There have been so many departures, some still due, over the past year and nearly all of them have left in the most boring way.

Imagine if Tanya's cancer came back and she didn't tell anyone until just before she died. It would create so much drama, ignite some already existent storylines. Max's grief would definitely cause issues between him and Kirsty, we'd get to see more of Lorna's acting talent as Abi, Lauren's drinking would spiral out of control properly this time, Rainie could make a one-off appearance at the funeral, Cora would be more needy around Ava...

But instead of first class drama, the writers/producers will be awaiting Tanya's return.

You make some good points but it's not that long since a very major character, Pat, died from cancer and I wonder whether they would evoke that storyline again for the time being.

If they do decide Tanya should die perhaps they could leave it for a year or so, whereby her death could be off-screen and would have a different impact?

I actually agree with this, the Brannings have become "meh" because of constant repetitive storylines, they need to be stretched and show some real emotion, Laurens drinking needs to be addressed one way or another as all she does is totter around shouting sarcastically, they need to go the whole hog and turn her into a full blown alkie, the impact of Tanya's death on the whole family could make fantastic TV.

I think Tanya dying of cancer would be good and finally make her cancer somewhat realistic. I swear I have had worse colds than she has had cancer it was handled incredibly badly. I am not sorry to see JJ leave as I feel she is at the end of the road and this would very much work for me.

I think their situations would be completely different to be honest. Pat's storyline was more of a goodbye to a legendary character and the emotional element came from the legacy she has left whereas the emotional element of Tanya's possible death would be complete shock due to how young she is.

Thinking about the remaining Brannings and the amount of storylines and drama it'd give them, I personally think it is a no-brainer.

I think the producers are giving the likes of Stacey, Peggy, Zainab, Syed, Christian etc happy exits in the hope that they'd come back one day. They don't think about the current show but instead the future one.

Tanya could be walking in the Square when she is knocked to the ground by some of Kane's gang who are running away after shoplifting. She bangs her head on the kerb and its curtains for Tanya and the end of the gang. Two birds one stone

I just think Tanya will have a huge argument with Kirsty and Max before leaving in the back of a cab

It will still be a more credible exit than was afforded to Nina Wadia.

However (and I said this yesterday), I feel that Nina was given a crappy exit storyline because the "writers" were too busy planning Jo Joyner's exit.

As much as I love her, I really think she wont come back or be brought back!

I think, she should be murdered in a SHORT who dunnit, then days later we find out she was already dying/suffering alone with terminal cancer!

I want her to be remembered like Dennis, Bradley,
something unforgettable and original and nothing like Heathers death!

Murders should only be done sparingly or they lose impact.
I think a cancer death would be a better exit than a murder who done it.

Tanya's death would be explosive to so many people on the square:

- Max and Kirsty would inevitably split due to Max's grief. He could fall into a state of depression with Carol being the one to look after him.

- Lauren's drinking would spiral out of control and she would be the real one to self-destruct. Maybe her drinking could even progress to drug-taking which would cause so much drama within the family since Rainie is/was an addict.

- Abi and Jay could grow stronger as a result and if she ever fell pregnant with a girl, she could name her Tanya.

- Sharon's pill addiction could get even worse now that her only friend on the square has died.

- Abi could try to take over the salon in a few years when she's older.

Or she can turn the Salon into a vet!

Yes, because she's going to have the finances to do that in only a couple of years.

I think if Pat hadn't of died last year from cancer then Tanya could of died from the disease, but I can't see EE doing it twice in two years. However you do make good points, killing off Tanya would be a good idea but it won't happen.

Jo has been getting emotional already even though she doesn't finish until next week. Her and Jake were messing about with wigs on twitter.........

I wouldn't rule out a cancer death exit

I love Tanya but I hope she does die from cancer because this would be a brilliant storyline and EastEnders needs something really gritty and hard-hitting right now.

I doubt it will be a cancer death because the writers would have already written her exit on the assumption that it was only a temporary break so I doubt they'd radically change it.

Btw I do actually love Tanya Branning as a character. I'm just thinking in terms of the show's future and mileage of other characters.

I rather they had a gas explosion at the Branning house during a family get together and wipe the whole clan out, leaving room for a fresh new family to arrive on the square.

Good idea, but think Tanyas house is all electric we will have to think of other ways to wipe them out..
