I did read about recording, I guess somebody hijacked your thread,

What IP address does your laptop have on the wireless connector ?

To set up internet connection sharing after connecting your sat box to the PC with a crossover ethernet cable. I don't have a XP machine in front of me but if I remember

Open Control Panel -> Network

Right click your wireless network adaptor and select properties.

Select the last tab which should be Advanced

Select the option "Allow other computers to connect to the internet through this computer"

The only problem may occur if your laptop wireless IP is 192.168.0.xxx
