I think Sohoguy has hit the nail on the head about working with non-BBC individuals. It needs to be handled with great care for so many different reasons.

Very excited about Reign of Terror. As for Shada ... am unfussed. It's not much cop, really, and I can entirely understand why BBC DVD don't want to take on work on that scale. It's not "reconstruction". It's "construction". It's actually making new DW to an old script, and getting it to fit in with the style of the original will be incredibly difficult, especially given that G Williams, J Nathan-Turner and P Roberts have passed away. I haven't bothered with the "construction" of Urge to Live on Planet of Giants DVD because it can never recapture the original. Even the music on the Shada VHS sounded wrong for the story, so they need to tread very, very carefully with this one.

I was uncertain whether to watch the Urge to Live thingy but I'm actually glad I did. Bits of it were dodgy but there were many moments where I couldn't see the join.

I'm actually quite encouraged to hope by the lack of mention of Tenth Planet.

He's very good as the moderator on the DVD commentaries and I particularly liked his mini documentary about Peter R Newman the writer of The Sensorites.

Must say, given the rough appearance of some of the colour recovery on Ambassadors of Death, the decision not to have the Dinosaurs DVD default to colour on episode 1 now seems rather silly.

Not really as the colour version of dinos was a late addition as the colour recovery wasnt sucsessful due to it being a poor print and there was no blues originally. We were actually quite lucky to get the colour version at all.Steve roberts passing a monitor while peter crocker was working on it and thought it had the possibility of it looking decent. The quality of most of ambassadors is a step up from dinos
