Yes there is; they could move it to frame Cain. They know now that he kidnapped Ross and drove the van to the edge of the quarry. Cain can't prove his story - though we know it's true - and there's also Kerry's evidence. The family might decide they didn't want to lose another son (like EE) and keep Pete out of jail to bring up Ross's son.
Cain could get together with Charity in jail, Moira would fight to get Cain released and then have to fight for her marriage. And there must be some reason why April and Belle caught Pete disposing of his clothes. April loved Ross; she could be the one to land Pete in it, thus helping the police with their enquiries and taking after her mother.
