I have just recently started to watch this show again and was, promptly, reminded why I stopped tuning in a few years ago. Whilst I do watch it to glean information about the types of property on offer, and the prices of houses in different parts of the country, I don't think the aim of the show, is to provide the 'buyers' with a solution to their house seeking problem. None of the buyers buy a property shown on the programme, and very few go end up buying anything at all. One episode featured a london couple, with a budget of £1.15m, to purchase a house and holiday lets and, quite honestly, they didn't look as if they would be financially capable of affording to spend that amount of money, even with a mortgage.
What background checks, if any, do the producers do into the financial status of the couples? Quite often, they seem as if they are just along for the ride.
I must say, though, quite a few episodes have concentrated on Cumbria, where I live, and the area is outstanding, with beautiful property. With the Lake District it is no wonder so many people want to live here.

I just like to watch it for the beautiful scenery, houses and gardens. :-o I tell the kids to shush for an hour because Mummy's pretending we've won the lottery and is very busy picking our new house. It gets particularly pitiful when I give far too much thought to how I would go about fencing the garden off, or how we'd realistically manage the commute. :-D
My wife always moans when the houses are big, about having to clean them:o:
My answer is always the same.
If we could afford such a big house, then we could afford a cleaner:)
They want their 15 mins of fame.
I stopped watching this years ago as even tho they give all the requirements they want and it is found for them, none of the houses are what they want
To me it's a fantasy programme for viewers who cannot afford to move to such beautiful houses.
We sold a house for a couple who went on this, they had a week down there, saw the houses the programme had sorted for them, and also fitted in several other viewings at the same time, whilst staying at a very nice hotel - so they had a very nice time, good accommodation and found their house (which predictably wasn't one that they saw on the programme).
Like others, I just watch it as house porn, plus a giggle when there's a kitchen the same size as the footprint of most houses and its sniffily dismissed as being far too small and pokey.
