Least Deserving Last Place of the 21st Century (Finals Only)

I've been looking back at some of the last placers since 2000 and I've realised the public/ jury don't really have the best track record at ensuring the worst song finishes last.

What do you think has been the most undeserving wooden spoon recipient of the 21st Century?

i'll have to relisten to them. BUT Even If was underrated. I liked it! Only love Survives should of also done better. In fact, I remember last year that people here thought it was a contender for a top 5 finish, especially since it drew a good position - last.

It was an absolute travesty that Tooji was last!!

Definitely In Love For A While.

I really liked the studio versions of Lose Control and They Can't Stop the Spring, but the live performances fell flat. Very flat in the latter's case.

In Love For A While! I'm actually from the German part of Switzerland and we were shocked when we had so little points!

It's interesting looking at the list... all this Nodic neighbour voting we are told about 5 out of thirteen and only Sweden have got away with it, but then there were years when they've not even qualified.

I'm surprised that KatieTaylor went with That Sounds Good to Me. I thought she was a huge fan of Cry Baby?

Definitely Anna Rossinelli, she had a great song, at least she made the final though

In Love For A While! I was shocked when it was last! It is such a catchy song! I still find myself humming it from time to time!

Cry Baby, whilst bad, shouldn't have been a nil pointer so I voted for that.

It was one of the most horrendous vocal performances i've ever been forced to endure! I do like the song itself, though.

Surprised so many are voting for Finland '09. Whilst the melody wasn't bad, the rapper was atrocious.

I may be biased, but I had to vote for Lose Control, 2009... While the live performance wasn't good, it wasn't that horrible either as to deserve last place. And as we had been running very high in all fan polls that year, it felt like such a crash. :(

Germany 2005 and Norway 2012 are two other very undeserving ones.

In Love For A While really wasn't that bad. The UK gave it 10 points, in fact.

I thought it was one of the best performances in 2009 because of the chorus and how well the singers (key word, singers) did well with the song. I thought the chorus was fantastic.

In Love for a While! I can sort of understand why all the others got last place but Switzerland 2011 didn't deserve that at all. It was such a cute song.

I voted for Tell Me Who You Are.

But I could have easily voted for Stay or In Love For A While.

Glad to hear at least one person thinks that :D

For my part, I must say I don't get the love for Switzerland 2011, though I may be lynched here  It was such a simple ditty, pleasant in its way but utterly forgettable...

Norway 2004 for me. I still like it even after a decade.

If I had to rank those songs from least deserving to most deserving:

    01. Norway 2004 (LEAST)
    02. Denmark 2002
    03. Finland 2009
    04. Malta 2006
    05. Norway 2012
    06. Ireland 2013
    07. Germany 2005
    08. Switzerland 2011
    09. UK 2008
    10. UK 2003
    11. Norway 2001
    12. Belgium 2000
    13. Ireland 2007
    14. UK 2010 (MOST)

In Love For A While is a gorgeous song didn't deserve last at all.

Also really like I Do but no complaints with the rest of those last placers.

I'm gonna be a bit biased and give Ryan my vote, but also think Anna Rossinelli deserved much better. 2011 was a very weird year results wise though.

In Love For A While was my favourite song of 2011. Delight at it's surprise qualification soon turned to disappoinment!

I liked Ireland 2007 as well, but her vocals were terrible. Think all their points came from the trolling Albanian jury.

Quite liked Run and Hide as well.
