Possibly dead... but you know what twitter is like.

Source is good though (unless she's been hacked)

People are always dying on Twitter. Let's wait and see. If we wait long enough, though....

Twitter's been hacked recently, so, maybe keep yourself in two minds about any news coming from there for the next day or so.

Yes, Margaret Thatcher may even now be prancing throught the afterlife with Robert Mugabe, who died only a few weeks ago on twitter.

Sad news if true. I very much doubt it is though.

As far as I can see, the official Carla Bruni account only has 3 tweets and they are from 3 years back.

Nothing on Sky News and they're usually pretty fast to report these things.

    Probably fake.

FFS .......The BBC , Sky etc, would be first with the news not some fake twitter account............made worse by people reposting things so rumours grow.

The damage these rumours can do is enormous. One famous man had distraught relatives and friends trying to phone his house thanks to a rumour spread on Twitter

I'm a great admirer of the Iron Lady, I hope this is false.

Why do people believe anything that is reported through Twitter when reputable news sources say nothing of the kind? It's a daily occurrence at work, "ooh such and such has happened, says so on Twitter". The first few times I can see people falling for it but when one is repeatedly fooled by 'stories' frome one outlet, why oh why do the same people fall for it time and again!

As already pointed out, your inbuilt common sense o'meter would suggest that the wife of a French politician is unlikely to break such a British story.

I have a test for rumours like this:

    Deathlist: No
    Wikipedia: No
    Google News: No
    Twitter: Reported hoax
    Sickipedia: No

    Margaret Thatcher is not dead.

EDIT: http://www.isthatcherdeadyet.co.uk/ says not yet. There you go, she hasn't died.

Those who slag Mrs Thatcher are usually the same ones who praise people like Livingstone and Scargill - therefore not to be taken too seriously.
