Just been reading some obits for the legenday Cuban boxer Teofilo Stevenson who died a couple of days ago.

Won 3 successive Olympic Heavyweigh boxing Golds - and would very likely have won a 4th but for the Cuban boycott of the 1984 Games.

A wonderful fighter - his KO of John Tate in the Montreal Games is one of my favourite Olympic (hell, sporting) memories.

If he could have gone pro I reckon he'd have been at the very top - even in the mid 70s.

    Sad news as he was only 60 and was by all accounts a principled man and a great sportsman.

    I agree with you Frood, he would have been a real contender even amongst the professional greats

    Sorry to hear about the loss of another great heavyweight boxer who I'm sure would have been world champion if he'd turn professional. I've never seen a boxer with such a deceptive knockout punch which appeared like a tap.
