Hello,

I open this thread to track the Qualification Events for Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Some Olympic Qualification Rankings (Triathlon, Mountain Bike, BMX, Judo, Golf) have already started but they will all close in 2016.

The first official Qualification Event which will give the first Olympic Quota will be the World Equestrian Games, starting on August 24th.

I hope someone is interested :)

Could be an interesting thread especially if those who have good knowledge of "minor" sports keep us updated :)

However can i suggest you ask a mod to move it to the Commonwealth Games sub-forum as that seems to the multi-event forum with its annual renaming! As Rio gets closer the forum will get busier and hopefully this thread will pick up steam

Actually the best place for this will be the Sochi thread - all the London 2012 threas are archived in there as well

GB's Team Dressage quartet won a silver medal at the World Equestrian games and so guaranteed qualification for Rio yesterday. I think this makes them the very first guaranteed qualifiers for Britain.

UPDATE: According to the BBC the three medalists - Germany, Britain and the Netherlands are the first teams in any event to qualify for Rio.

The medal winners in the solo dressage events today and on Friday are also Olympic qualifiers.

Hello grassmarket, the last sentence of your post is not correct.

Please have a look here: http://www.totallympics.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=6522&extra=page%3D1

Germany, Great Britain, Netherlands and ALSO Australia have qualified for Team Dressage. By qualifying a team, they have also automatically qualified 4 quota places for Individual Dressage.

Top 6 teams in Team Eventing (starting today) will also qualify for Rio, as explained here: http://www.totallympics.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=5477&extra=page%3D1

Also in Team Eventing and Team Jumping, as in Team Dressage, teams which qualify automatically qualify 4 athletes for individual events. Quota places are given to NOC and not to Athletes, so NOCs will be able to choose which athletes to send just some weeks before Olympic games ;)

Next Rio qualifying event seems to be the Sailing World Championships in Spain from 12-21 September.
