Why do online supermarkets not accept Paypal ?

Tesco and Morrisons and maybe more do not, and want payment by credit or debit card.

    Why would they take Paypal?.

    As far as I remember the vendor charges are higher than for DC's and CC's, so would they benefit?.

    You can use PayPal with Ocado.

    Isn't PayPal designed for paying sole traders and entities you might not trust to be around after you've made an online purchase? That's kind of why it is more expensive than using a card. I'm not sure it makes sense for large, well known retailers.

    Because they don't want contribute to the hegemony PayPal has over digital payments. Same reason that Amazon doesn't offer a PayPal option.

    Yes.
    Although increasingly, people can't be arsed to type their number in so you do see a few larger retailers giving this option. Maybe due to mobile use?
