That's a kind thing to do.
I guess it is, but I don't quite see it as generous, I'd feel more of an ass if I didn't as he won't be able to support himself like most people can. My older brother has done the same, so it should help him a lot.
We the OP does rather like to mention money. He started another thread about his £12K payrise.
the taxman will love you they must be looking forward to their 40%
plus who to say in the future they dont need to go in a care home and they have to sell there assets to pay for their care
If some terrible tragedy happened right now, I would get a lot. But I hope my parents enjoy their retirement fully, when they do so, and experience everything they could ever wish to do with the savings they have worked so hard for all their lives. They are the type of people who will put something aside for me, I just know it. But I would much prefer they leave nothing. It is all theirs as far as I'm concerned.
Me too, I'd give every penny I have inherited back a billion times over just to give my gran another hug.
To be fair there are plenty of loopholes to avoid this.
Indeed it is, which is why I'm not going to dignify the question with a response.
Having a bloody fine time of it, too.
Well done you. Our 3 kids will get our house, hopefully, but no money.
Estates are only taxed above £325k so if we're talking Roger's parents and Mrs Rogers parents it could be that only £350k will be liable to tax.
I expect the threashold to raised or even abolished at some point anyway.
As regards care home bills Dave has promised no more than £70k should be payable, though I'm not sure on the details.
Yep, same as ours.
Ok, comrade, enough of the speeches.
Maybe one of the nice fm's on food and drink could give you a spare one?
