Where can I get the best exchange rate in the High Street for Dollars? Want to buy some now for my trip to Vegas in March because of the fluctuations in the markets so Travelex are out, as are any online ones.

We're off to Vegas in March too (8th -13th as part of a month long NYC/West coast trip).
The 'accountant' (OH) has found that the best rate she could find is from a local jewellers/pawnbrokers ???????
Other times we used M&S (as recommended above).
The rate seems to have dropped slightly recently but the difference between buying and selling always seems a bit of a rip off really.
I use them every time I go to the states as I always find the exchange rate is better than anywhere else.
Cool. Where are you staying?
We got a great price of £74 for 4 nights. Even the guy on the phone had to double check it. Guess how quick the credit card came out for that one
M & S
Don't you start paying interest on it instantly though?
Get the bare minimum in cash before you go to cover airport taxis, tips etc, then get the cash as you go from an ATM out there.
Hey Tommy.
I know you've said Travelex are out, but I've found they can be quite good.
The last couple of times I've been away, I've gone to their website and purchased from them in advance. I'm sure you'll be able to order now for your trip in March. You have to specify the exact date, time and place you'll pick them up from (e.g. if you're going from Heathrow for example, you either choose Travelex check-in side or Travelex Terminal side).
Doing it this way you get a really good rate - it's far better than just going up to the counter on the day. In fact, when I did it for Polish currency a few months back, a friend of mine just bought from them on the day. He got the same amount of currency as me but it cost him about £20 more!
I must admit I don't know if the rate you'll get is better than Post Office or M&S, but it's probably worth a look.
Enjoy Vegas!
Last year, on one occassion, we found Travelex on-line to give the best dollar rate, but only the one time.
I know of someone who has a Nationwide Flex Account just so they can use the ATM card for withdrawing cash abroad.

The poster stated credit card, which was why I was querying it.
I want to get money now as it's a decent rate but it has been falling steadily for a month or so.
