Resurrection on ABC is a scheduled for midseason so looking at past trends it could air as late as early April..

It looks like a very weak imitation in my opinion and will likely be canned after the first season...If it winds up on Sundays at 10 which is really where I see it going, its doomed (GCB, Red Widow, 666 Park Ave, Pan Am all recently occupied that slot and all one season and done).

Can see your logic. It has to have the subtlety for it to be different enough to be 'event TV'. But that does not work on US network TV where an episodic weekly format seems essential.

Les Revenants was a show that built a mystery slowly and by piecing clues together. Cannot see that easily translating.

Not at all sure where it will fit on a UK channel either. Not as a long run series that dilutes the concept.

A five nighter on BBC 1 perhaps? But They Came Back seems to be at too early a stage to know.

At least it would well translate in location - the Pennines, with real life supernatural associations well established, villages, hills, winding dangerous roads, dams and reservoirs like at Longendale.

If they translate literally location wise it can work very well in the UK IMO.

    BBC Three's new episodes of Family Guy tickled 1.30m (6.8%) at 10pm and 1.06m (6.7%) at 10.30pm.

I do wonder whether this would be better in shiny HD on BBC2? It could easily increase its audience (dare I say double?)

With the right promotion, the Simpsons/Family Guy crossover ratings (in a year or so) could deliver some records for BBC3

    Channel 4 = 5.1
    Channel 5 = 5.0

So Channel 4 take that victory I would say...marginally.

They should have a stronger showing this week.

Broadcast reported that it was a series low. Anyway, I've changed it. Looks like it is levelling at the 3m mark.

    Very marginally then...

I agree, Channel 4 will be a little stronger; Saturday looks strong (X-Men, Kick-Ass) as does Sunday (The Mill). Let's see if Southcliffe can scoop up The Mill's viewers, provided they stick around. :)

Which X-Men is being shown this saturday??

I wouldn't expect Kick Ass to pull in good numbers in that slot....just look at what happened to Scott Pilgrim a few weeks back.

The very first I believe, if 1.7m watched it this week, I'd hope that the same audience would return to see it from the beginning. Perhaps, 1.4-1.6m? Kick-Ass is more popular though, and is less cult ala Scott Pilgrim which I like too (I know a lot of people do not!) I'd say Kick-Ass could go anywhere between 1.2-1.5m! To add, Kick-Ass 2 comes out soon... What better way to refresh your memory? :D

Great news, really enjoying it, and hopefully now it won't have the terrible (much used) ending of the book.

I think "That Puppet Game Show" looks fab! Totally different. A bit like The Muppet Show for the 21st century. I hope it's successful.
    ronant wrote: »
I'm looking forward to it too. It's a shame David Walliams couldn't host it, but Gabby Logan is a safe pair of hands, and Frank Skinner and Micky Flanagan should be good as team captains. The guests they've got on seem pretty decent too, an eclectic bunch - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Love_My_Country_(UK_TV_series)

I've seen clips of the Dutch version and it looks a lot of fun. It's been sold to 25 countries so it's certainly been successful. There's an article from the Independent about it here - http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/its-not-a-ukip-advert-stars-back-bbcs-patriotic-show-i-love-my-country-8709615.html

That Puppet Game Show starts 10th August and is seven episodes, whilst I Love My Country is 8 episodes. So both should finish on September 21st. Then it'll be time for Strictly and Atlantis.

These were big hopes for the autumn weren't they? That neither is going to pair up with Strictly, and are being burned off now before the big hitter arrives says it all.

The Muppets looks fun, but it's launching at tea time in high summer. I just don't think a standard LE gameshow featuring celebs but hosted by a muppet instead of a presenter will put many bums on seats, not in high summer. In the depths of winter before SCD maybe.

Will it break out of the 2m's range?
I'm gonna stick my neck out and say that Robbie might be referring to Bonjour La Class

Failing that there was a Lenny Henry drama set in a comprehensive (not that it was meant to be funny)

    :)

Yes - Chalk and Bonjour La Classe (Nigel Planer starred; it was pants) are what I'm thinking of. Chalk was pretty good as I recall, thought of itself as a bit Brittas-y perhaps, but not a hit. I vaguely remembered something with Lenny Henry, but you're right, it was a drama - the sitcom was Chef. (Which wasn't that bad, and rated well at first too)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1t-H0cRSOs

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3KwCdqSdJc

    Chalk:

Just don't think school sitcoms have a great history, save for Please Sir! and the Jimmy Edwards (?) stuff in the 50s.

Body of Proof continues to fascinate me. Interesting that Season 2 repeats on 5USA are outrating the new episodes on Alibi. But in a nutshell it's doing good business wherever it is shown:

    5 USA (was FIVE USA)
    BODY OF PROOF S2E7 (MON 15 JULY 2102) 457,000
    BODY OF PROOF S2E7 (MON 15 JULY 2202) 52,000

    BODY OF PROOF S3E1 (TUE 16 JULY 2101) 346,000

Sky's entertainment content is spread too thinly over too many channels. If they consolidated some of the programming from Atlantic, Living & Sky 1 into a single Sky Entertainment channel it might be a more enticing prospect.

Sky 1 for all its investment in original content often seems threadbare.

Had the overnights.tv free trial for a few days now and what's struck me the most is how incredibly poorly so much of Sky1 rates. For a channel with it's position on the Sky EPG, and the big budget it has, it should really be doing better. A few ratings from the last few days...

    Monday
    21.00 Arrow 72k/0.3%
    22.00 Arrow 53k/0.3%

    Tuesday
    22.00 Arrow 35k/0.2%

    Wednesday
    21.30 Mad Dogs 28k/0.1%
    22.30 Royalty Close Up 30k/0.2%

    Thursday
    22.00 Greatest Little Britons 21k/ 0.1%
    23.00 Hawaii Five-O 9k/0.1%

    Saturday
    20.00 An Idiot Abroad 83k/0.4%
    21.00 Revolution 56k/0.3%
    22.00 Revolution 47k/0.3%

    Sunday
    14.30 Road Wars 8k/0.1%
    21.00 The Cafe 106k/0.5%
    21.30 Stella 95k/0.5%
    22.30 The World's End Special 23k/0.2%

It's very reliant on The Simpsons (averages about 350k), which reached its peak 15 years ago.

You only need to look at the line ups to see why. It's a constant diet of rubbish and repeats of rubbish. Plus the odd "landmark" Sky new programming like Mad Dogs or Stella, which nobody bothers to even try because it's on Sky1, the channel nobody bothers to watch.

Really irritates me how the Sky EPG can't be customised to get rid of these pointless channels, or at least re-order them into my preferred order of priority not Sky's, like I can do with Freeview.

Which of these has regressed the most do we think? Sky1, MTV or Gold? These channels at their peak were must have in pay TV terms. How many would consider them must have now I wonder?

Three channels which could tempt me to pay TV: FOX, National Geographic, Crime & Investigation.
Three channels that don't really tempt me: Sky1, MTV, Gold.

As soon as the titles for ITV News roll, viewers flock to BBC1. I am sure some of the 4million watching BBC at 10.15 would probably have watched this had it it not be against it.

Its seems to have got a good response from DS forum members though
