A new writer (for DW at least) is good news, hopefully we'll have a few more. Though a return from Jamie Mathieson, Neil Cross, Toby Whithouse and Neil Gaiman would be most welcome.
In Doctor Who, The Doctor and Clara face their Last Christmas. Trapped on an Arctic base, under attack from terrifying creatures, who are you going to call? Santa Claus!
I hope Clara doesn't leave half way through the series, it makes things feel disjointed. If she is series 9 it should be for the full series, other wise she might as well bow out at Christmas imo.
I don't know. I think Christmas could give the character a clean exit and even if she is in Series 9, a new companion should still be added into the mix as well.
Series 9 needs some kind of new companion regardless. I don't however think that means Jenna needs to go right now though...that TARDIS isn't exactly crowded after all.

Not exactly the same but Martha left and came back for different episodes so it could happen. As for being disjointed it really depends on how its done, it could have a natural conclusion

I'll ask around and see if I can find some inside information to answer that question ;-)

Oh my God, I've been saying for ages I'd love her to pen an episode! This is brilliant news!

This is most welcome. She wrote two of the better episodes of Series 1 of Torchwood.
2nd only to Chris Chibnall.
Nothing. Probably would have snuck through, to be honest.
We have our title, though. Last Christmas. But whose?

And now I have the song stuck in my head
I didn't think this was possible, Clara and an unflattering outfit .....

Last Christmas is a nice title. Hate to admit but I really do think Clara is leaving now.
Santa's, probably.
Killing off Santa on Christmas day - now that's something I'd like to see ;-)

Like the title.
LOL
And the very next day,
You went to Gallifrey?
Sneak peak.
Always worth mentioning.

I think we're due a companion crossover.
