Yep its definitely an attack. Its a bad one too. Please avoid the web interface.

It seems it has been exploited by a mouseover security flaw

I think it might be. It's been odd for me a couple of times when trying to log in.

This attack is making all these big letters come on screen and also posts spurious links on your twit feed. Just checked my twitter via my iphone and its okay but it seems I have posted links I didnt post.
The news is it only happens on the web interface so if you use twitter use a third party program for now.

What is happening? I use a widget for it and never the main site. I went to the main site and it looks normal to me?

Try not to use the website interface because you will find that your account may keep posting these mouseover links and making it worse.

Yes - I have closed it down now after I realised what it was up to - I just closed it - reopened tweeted what I wanted then it seems to have stopped. I will head back when its sorted!

Using mobile.twitter.com works, or any of the third-party apps, or the widgets. The main web interface is well fried, though.

Perhaps it depends on the server you're connected to? I know they have thousands (apparently 3% just for Justin Beiber and his giny tingly teeny girl fans!)

Is it only damaging Twitter, or is my computer at risk too?

For me Twitter was summed up when I inadvertently heard that the news reporter on the radio 1 breakfast show (he reads a sheet of A4 8 times 5 days a week) had written on his Twitter that he and his wife had a Thai meal last night.

that my friends is where we are
