Football SPOILER (because the game wasn't live, only on the internet, highlights on ITV4 at 10.30pm).
Chelsea won 2-0 at Middlesborough so they will play at Manchester United in the glamour tie of the FA Cup quarter-finals
Surprised ESPN couldn't show this as the second "replay", even though it wasn't. Would surely make more sense to use that right now than have it hang over likely until next season as an extra replay in Round 3 (in the event this game didn't result in a replay), but obviously the rights can't be that flexible.

BBC One HD is counted in with BBC One.
BBC HD is seperate because it was originally a mixed channel although will soon become BBC Two HD so when that happens those ratings will be added to BBC Two

In the officials BBC1 HD is included in the total BBC1 total for programmes etc. however, BARB does allow the feasibility to break the channel viewing out at a lower level and so you can access and indeed some peopl may report BBC1 HD viewing as a component. It is both measured and included.

So Sky Living have picked up the rights to make a UK version of My Kitchen Rules, which is trouncing the competition in the ratings Down Under at the moment. That obviously limits it's ability to be a breakout hit here, though I could never see it taking off on one of the main channels anyway, certainly not in primetime.

Also BBC2 are hoping sewing is the new baking with the Great British Sewing Bee.

I'd say sewing would be a good less exciting than baking.

    January iPlayer performance pack: http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/iplayer/iplayer-performance-jan13.pdf

Africa episode 1 was watched by a massive 2.28m on the iPlayer, Top Gear 1.89m, Miranda 1.83m, The Dumping Ground 1.48m, Mrs Brown's Boys 1.40m, Waterloo Road 1.07m.

Also it shows that 16% of iPlayer usage is through TV, so I would estimate probably about 12% of the above numbers would of been counted towards BARB's consolidated totals.

Pushes Africa episode 1 to above 13m .

Very slow start for Food Glorious Food which could only muster 2.74m / 12.7%. It came in well below itv's benchmark share for the slot of 21.6%.

Channel 4 was not far behind at all with Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners on 2.34m / 10.8%. This in comparison was well above the network's benchmark share for the slot of 7.1%.

New supernatural drama Lightfields followed Food Glorious Food with a disappointing 3.87m (17.0%). It was also below itv's slot average of 19.2%.

Terrible evening for Itv. Food Glorious Food is one of the flops of the year so far, and that was against such easy competition. Next two weeks it faces Eastenders so its ratings will go down even more. Lightfields did badly as well, not even 4million for the first episode!

Can I say that I like the way you have presented this set of ratings.

Holiday Shit Squad deserves to tank, endless repetitive sob stories, Lightfields deserved a better rating.

I assume (9) is the combined figure for all the ITV regions as (3) is for the BBC regions - so who said no-one was interested in local news ?

I didn't know they were putting it out in that slot! It's something that should be on at 5pm.

I was talking about from 8pm onwards. And nothiong to gloat about for Lightfields to just about beat Child of Our Time by +1. Lightfields was a well advertised expensive drama at Itv which would've been expected to win its slot with ease and well over 4million. Child of Our Time is a show mainly done for PSB purposes and low ratings for that were expected. Two completely different programs.

The big question is will it see out the run there?

If it was a Tuesday they'd probably just settle for these figures but it seemed to lose viewers more or less throughout, rating under 2.5m for the last half an hour.

    How many episodes are there?

Eight episodes of Food Glorious Food left. Itv should do the admirable thing and stick with it for the next two months in that slot ;)

Ouch for Lightfields - a disaster of a start, behind tosh like HHS and a 7pm magazine in the daily chart. And only 100k ahead of the dull and worthy COOT which was about 1m up on its last outing.

Slick trailer, hype - and it bombs.

Do some still think the much-vaunted Seachurch is going to get massive 7m figures now?

    Hm, I wonder...

    11.55pm: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation [rpt]: 370k / 8.1%

I rarely defend Sam but he is spot on about last night. Child of our time rated in line with what it got 5 years ago. The predecessor to Lightfields, Marchlands opened to 6.5m incl +1 2 years ago and retained around 85% of it's audience until the end of the series. That is a very poor return performance imo and that is before we even discuss FGF.

Yes Masterchef will be going up against Food Glorious Food for the second half hour in a fortnight. Masterchef's ratings were far from spectacular last year though.
