Taken from another thread. I learnt today there are male midwives. I was a little bit shocked by this. I cant say i would have been comfortable with a man doing the delivery and any pre delivery procedures on my wife.
Are they still called mid "wives"?

Well what if the man was the only person available? I'm sure you would have struggled through your discomfort
Why not?
Do you have a problem with male doctors and nurses seeing her bits too?
What about the Doctor were they male ? Surely during delivery it is what your wife is comfortable with that matters not you , and there will be many times a lady is intimately examined by a male doctor not just on childbirth.
There was no dr.
His wig...
OP - wouldn't bother me in the least, male or female makes no odds when in the throes of labour.
My Mum said there was one on the ward when my Brother was born and that was 30 years ago and it wasn't a brand new thing then.
Some people go into Nursing knowing what they want to specialise in others train and find out during training where they are happy and where they excel, as you say as long as that Nurse is good at their job.
My Mum loved hers. Was ever so upset that I had to be delivered by the other, female, one and not the male she had really liked.
That was nearly 26 years ago as well so I'm thinking they aren't a new thing.
What about your wife being referred to a male gynaecologist?
What about you and female doctors and nurses?
Woaaah I draw the line at that
He's either obsessed with wedding cake or fannys

Don't see why. We get female doctors nowadays.

Just finished watching OFAH Top 20 on tv - fabulous to watch again. One of my top fave comedies.
I don't think it matters all that much whether you'd be comfortable or not. You'd not be the patient.
The patient can specify if they want a male or a female medical person ministering to them and this is adhered to, as much as possible; but the patient's spouse? Nope.
Probably just as well. If she had a thing for him, she probably wouldn't want him seeing her distended chuff with the top of your head sticking out.
I mean that in the nicest possible way.
Paaaat!
