ALW suggests it was very close and it wouldn't surprise me if Sophie had a lead prior to the Lauren farewell with Lauren's transfer votes swinging it Danielle's way.

Well I heard someone say that Danielle was way ahead even before Lauren left. But you don't know what to believe. I find it difficult to believe that becuase of how the voting was going before. It seemed to chop and change. Perhaps the coalition thing did work. I doubt it though.

It is more difficult to work out this year. There are at least two weeks where Sophie must've been ahead of Danielle, and two weeks, including the second half of the final where Danielle must've been ahead of Sophie. That would suggest it was close, but whether Sophie lead at any point on final night, I don't think so.

Actually, this has made me think that by "close", maybe ALW was just meaning that the lead kept flip-flopping between them on previous shows. It doesn't necessarily mean that it was that close on final night--just that the voting was tight all series long and both Sophie and Danielle had been popular during the course of it.

I think it wasn't just between Danielle and Sophie. I think anyone from the top 7 could have come top in one week, and I don't think there was much between those girls all the way through.

Yeh I think so. Although perhaps some were losing votes, down to poor song choices. I don't like to blame the song, becuase if they can't pull it off then that is their problem... But if you don't have the voice to pull off pop, it's going to be very difficult to win a show like this. So I think it was quite close throughout the compition becuase they all had their of weeks, and were all quite close in age and experience.
Bumping Sophie's thread before it disappears off the main page.

aww, so cute!:) (although, i'm sure that if any children who watched OTR actually saw Sophie across the street, they would run straight across to see her! whoops!)
A good idea to get someone that young children can relate to and sophie looks great in the promo picture. Sophie is strangely likeable, I hope she does well.

Srangely Sophie's also going on for the three Wednesday and Thursday shows this week as effectively Danielle's understudy. Odd because Danielle is off sick and has two understudies already, and an Alternate like Sophie usually sticks to their own days. One at least of the understudies has been on so they are worked up - perhaps they are sick too, or the chances of seeing Sophie are bigger than we thought.
^They are only doing the same thing they did with SOM with Aoife and Connie. After Aoife came in as the alternate, she was the one who would go on for Connie when Connie was off, whether it was for holidays or illness. The understudies were there in case both Connie and Aoife were not available. I'm guessing that is what they are doing with Oz as well. When Danielle is off, Sophie is the first understudy, and then the covers are there in case both Danielle and Sophie are not available.

The contract format must have changed since IDA etc, as it wasn't allowed then.

Good news, though I thought she was going off training.
she's also got a new job as an ice-cream tester! http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/2010/08/27/valleys-ice-cream-flavour-announced-91466-27151457/
Oh my, I'd hate a job like that, I'd become addicted to icecream and balloon up to a size 18. lol.

I thought she was terrific. The show was better than I was expecting.
Had you gone to see Danielle? You were after all the founder of her thread!
Pleased for Sophie, but I would have been gutted to get an alternate.
Yeah, I was expecting it to be Danielle but was perfectly happy for it to be Sophie.
Maybe Danielle would have had a different timbre to her acting but I like Sophie's singing voice.
Good show.
