While I love the original to bits, the cover of Bad Company by Five Finger Death Punch for me surpasses the original.

Also the Disturbed cover of 'Shout' by Tears For Fears also surpasses the original in my opinion

Johnny Cash - Hurt, Westlife's - Uptown Girl and Bowie and Jaggers - Dancing in the Street are ones that spring to mind!

i'd say johnny cash's hurt is as good as the original, however uptown girl by westlife is terrible and bowie/jaggers dancing in the street is considered to be one of the worst covers around

Bowie's version of the Pixies Cactus is pretty great.

Strangelove (Depeche Mode) covered by Bat For Lashes.

Working Class Hero and Ballad Of Lucy Jordan I much prefer sung by the lovely Marianne.

Nerina Pallot's cover of Love Will Tear Us Apart is the best cover I've ever heard. Hauntingly beautiful, and she sings every word like she wrote it herself.

Saint Saviour also did a cover, which i prefer.

No cover of this song will ever eclipse the original, but I'm a big fan of this.......

Seriously?? I know it's all subjective, even the original Badfinger version is a million times better than that warbling version, however, the definitive version is Harry Nillson's.

It made me so angry once when some wanabee on X Factor tried to sing it, and it was introduced as the 'Mariah Carey classic'
