She said in an earlier episode that she doesn't get her "hands dirty". She is a matriarch type so I think that's okay. She would have fought her own battles when younger (not necessarily in prison) and earned her way to this position.
It's a shame this is a direct remake of PCBH as a lot of the people I talk to about it keep comparing it to the original, talking about the old characters - whereas this could just be a good show in it's own right.

i get what u mean but by the letter of the law its not a show in its own right its a reboot they should have used unkown charachters and an unkown set

I believe Chrissie maybe coming in series 2 but again people are hoping for the original characters instead of embracing it as a new show.
