What did you think of this week's outfits?
Loved Sophie's elegant dress. Beautifully simple at the top, with a nod to the original Ginger Rogers dress with the feathered skirt. Trying to remember when we last had feathers on dresses? I think Gloria Hunniford had them in series 3, but that's going back a long way. Always lovely to see Brendan in a tailcoat.
Fiona wore her usual slim-fit dress with chiffon sleeves, which suits her very well. Particularly lovely hair-do.
The red tango dress worn by Abbey was beautiful and dramatic. Shows that you can be sexy without having it all hanging out. Would have preferred her hair to be in a neat bun, as the swishing pony-tail spoiled the backless-ness of the dress and looked like, well, the tail of a pony.
Deborah hasn't got where she is today professionally without having good instincts. She should have stuck with those instincts and refused to have anything to do with Bucks Fizz and skirt removing. The dance and the clothes didn't suit her personality at all. I have voted for her desperately, hoping that she can survive and put this week behind her.
Didn't understand Rachel's outfit at all? What was she supposed to be? Still, if you have to wear yellow trousers, that's the way to do it.
No woman should ever be forced to wear a Mohican hair style! Looked dreadful on Susanna a couple of weeks ago and dreadful again last night on Natalie. Whilst I liked the concept of Natalie's dress, I thought the colouring just didn't work. Black trousers with big white bell-bottoms? Less should be more.
I always think Susanna looks a bit wild on the dance floor and this week's wild outfit and wild hair style enforced that. Am in two minds.
As for the men -
Ben never needs wear anything else but that vest and I will be happy. It distracted me from the dancing - a good thing.
I rather liked Mark's gold outfit, but I think the hair and the silly faces were a bit too much. It distracted me from the dancing - a bad thing.
Ashley looked dapper - what was Bruce wittering on about his shirt? A bit fed up with the Grecian look of the dress on Ola - we've seen these already twice in the pro dances.
Strangely, Patrick's sparkly shirt and black trousers looked a bit dated - odd when you think that they all wore those a few years ago. Much prefer the more adventurous costumes these days.
Dave scrubbed up well, and I can't comment on Julien as I FF through it as quickly as possible. Probably very sparkly.

It had 2000 crystals, you know!!
It had 2000 crystals, you know!![/QUOTE]
Only 2000! I would have expected his Divaness to demand 10 x that number.
I agree with the OP in its entirety except I would highlight the MC Hammer trousers on Mark. A bad idea when MC Hammer wore them and haven't improved over time. I don't think having his trouser crotch around his knees did Dave any favours. it made him look squat and slovenely IMO.
I think Rachel was supposed to be Faye Dunaway in Bonnie and Clyde - right down to the ochre palette. However, it's a tough look to pull off unless you are Faye (Sophie might have done it) and absolutely not to be touched by a squeaky clean sporty girl like Rachel. Sadly, Pasha is no Warren Beatty either - someone said he looked like a storm trooper. So epic fail when the wardrobe department put people in mind of Aryan supremacy instead of system subversion.
It also takes some doing to make Natalie look plain and awkward but that hairdo certainly got there and the trews managed to conceal and detract from the exquisite footwork she turned in during the 25 seconds or so Artem actually gave her any QS to perform.
Abbey's eyes with all that black kohl were gorgeous, but it looked as though a six year old had plastered it on!
Some of the dresses/outfits are definitely a bit iffy and I, for one, would like to see a bit more grace and elegance in the costumes. Strictly has lost a bit of its sparkle.
It was very poodle parlour - and then there was Rachel's keks and Debbie and her partner looking like something off the rocky horror show - Costume not doing them any favours.
Having said all that I bet Anton insists on picking his own underwear from the " you make my pants want to get up and dance" collection.
I actually think the dresses have been much better this year and started a thread to that effect. The older and / or more curvaceous ladies have not had to wear the hideous and demeaning creations forced upon Lisa Riley, Anne Widecombe, Linda Bellingham etc etc. Thankfully the really garish colours have gone too ( apart from Rachel and Pasha yesterday) and the dresses have been more flattering albeit still needing better corsetry built in for larger ladies. I loved Sophie's dress yesterday and also the lovely midnight blue one which Iveta wore.
HOWEVER there has been some ridiculous make up and hair stying and goodness only knows what we'll get for Halloween !!
I liked the idea of Abbeys eye make up but thought the execution was very very poor.
Natalie's hair?!
Too many poor outfits last night to list which is a shame as they had seemed better this year. Perhaps wardrobe were practising for Halloween week?
It reminded me of those toy poodles they used to trot out every year at crufts.
I was wondering where I had seen it before lol
Some flatties I think
Whoever deciding to plonk that appalling thing on Natalie's head as well as rubbish dress should be fired .
I couldn't concentrate on Rachel's dance with that horrible yellow pants they made her wear and made her bottom seem huge .
Not to mention Deborah and Robins ridiculous get up and was she trying to dance in her slippers
Again I couldn't concentrate on Abbey's dance with that horrible dress and make up, plus the awful, awful music . I had to rewind it with the sound down to see why the judges were raving over her .
I thought that - not sure it would have been hugely better but she didn't stand a chance with that stupid skirt underneath.
Loved the front of Natalie's dress, hated the back. The pink tail didn't seem to match the front at all. Much, much, much better hairstyle than last week.
Deborah looked lovely. Those two-tone ballroom dresses are so flattering on her. Plus a beautiful, simple hair-do.
I'm not fond of the short ballroom dresses that are being favoured this year, so not keen on Susanna's yellow creation. Didn't like the ruffled skirt and thought that bright yellow just added to her overpowering presence on the dancefloor. Probably chosen because of "sunshine".
Loved Karen's Carmen Miranda fruit headwear. Loved, loved it.
Sophie's emerald green chacha dress was unusually subdued for a latin, which is no bad thing. But would probably have looked better if she had moved a bit more. Didn't like the white stripes down Brendan's trousers - made him look like he was wearing a tracksuit.
Thought Abbey looked absolutely stunning. Gorgeous dress and fabulous hairstyle.
Mark was all elegance in his suit and was perfectly suited to Iveta's amazing silver dress.
Yet again Patrick seems to have been forgotten by Wardrobe because they sent him out again in boring black trousers and coloured sparkly shirt. Anya's red tail looked great, though.
Can't decide if I liked Rachel's outfit but I do think the hair and make-up were effective.
Fiona looked elegant and happy and the dress suited the dance.
Ashley's outfit was unremarkable and all I can remember about Ola's is that the top didn't seem to match the bottom.
Ben wasn't wearing a vest , and it was needed to distract us from the awful song, awful choreography and Kristina's too-skimpy dress.
And a final word for the lovely deportment lady. Elegant tartan suit, matched with tartan tights and black, chunky sandals???!!
Rachel's was shocking. And wasn't keen on the loo roll stuck on the back of Natalie's outfit.
Was that a real person ? She was so oddly dressed I thought she was a pretend deportment specialist brought in for the VT !
