I don't get why some want to be called Sir before their name for.

Better seats in restaurants? The feeling of superiority over us non-titled peasants? :)

It's disgusting that it took so long.

Charlie Chaplin had to wait until he was 85.

Did Ronnie Barker ever get any sort of honours (I've no doubt he would have, I just don't recall them, offhand)?

I think the fact that Ronnie Barker missed out on a what would have been hugely deserved Knighthood should hopefully stop them making the same mistake and let Ronnie Corbett miss out

Give a famouse person a knighthood for sevices to-entertainment (in this case). These people are in it for their own ego. It's a privilege to work in such well paying industry, don't give me all of this "services to" rubbish. Please.

Probably a nice bloke, but non of these showbizzers should get knighted for having a great-job for decades.

Yeah. Maybe make them CBEs or OBEs-but keep the knighthoods for really exceptional and altruistic works, above and beyond the call of duty.

Yeah, that sounds like a pretty good way to go about it.

Ye Gods and little fishes. This is why royal threads ought to be the sole domain of the showbiz forum.

Well then do you want the OP to list the countless tv shows he has done over the years? Sure it would be more suited to 'showbiz' but considering his career in tv, its not out of place.

Well done Brucie. Should have been knighted years ago.

And for those who ask what he's done to deserve it, there are many who have been knighted for doing far less and at a much younger age.

He said in an interview today that at least his lifetime of work hasnt been in vain.

So, is this what he's been working towards?

    How arrogant is this?

Meaning that all the people in the industry who dont have recognition have all wasted their time.

Ive seen documentaries with him, and absolutely changed my mind about him. He is an arrogant, conceited, pig.
