Freeview recorder with MKV/H264 playback via USB?
Can anyone recommend such a machine?
Must have a Scart (RGB) output in addition to HDMI.
SD playback is acceptable but HD option with DTS audio preferred, even if downconverted.
I have a portable USB device with a large collection of movies and TV shows on it ranging from 480p to 720p.
Previous recommendations in the forum were made a very long time ago and I'm hoping playback compatibility has improved since then.

Have a look at humax-

It doesn't even have a HDMI port, only Scart. It's a nine year old tube set and shows no sign of aging.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm familiar with the Humax brand but understand they have or once had only limited USB playback capabilities?

Interesting thanks. I've not seen a BD player with built-in Freeview recorder before.

It has a few shortcomings, some of which I was made aware of before ordering, but has so far done everything I've asked of it and all for less than £23 (delivered).
I'm using it chiefly as a media player and as such it has saved me having to convert files and burn them to disc for playback via a DVD player.
