The Guardian has announced that Matthew Postgate has been appointed as Chief Technology Officer :

Everyone will wish him well in his new post, and hope that as far as radio goes, that he will bring new ideas to the industry. He will report to Anne Bulford, who says in the Guardian article, that he will bring "innovation, expertise, and value".

It is all three of those that radio needs to take it forward. Any switchover to completely digital transmission means that the BBC must provide universal coverage and high quality broadcasts. Judging by comments over the months in this forum, although the BBC is the best in these respects, things are far from perfect.

There is a tremendous amount to be achieved regarding digital radio broadcasting and streaming by Matthew Postgate, and all we can do is wish him the best in that endeavour....
