Veggie cottage pie - a bit dry

Lovely though it was, the non-meat mince has no fat in it, and even though I was generous with oil, the pie was still a bit dry.

It's the perfect weather for a hearty pie, so any further suggestions?

Tomato ketchup is the secret ingredient to the perfect cottage/shepherd's pie.

Sounds like you had no gravy?

Ta for the suggestions, all. I'm going to try increasing the gravy rather than go with the tommy/marmite suggestions, as I already lop a whole load of Worcestershire sauce in it and I add tommies to practically everything else I cook.

Don't think I realised exactly how dry veggie mince can be. Still, you don't try, you don't learn.

I always add a vegetable stock cube, some red wine and some tinned tomatoes, with some onion, carrots and leeks. You might want to consider adding some arrowroot to thicken, although there is usually enough starch on the mince itself.
