I have always had a huge admiration for her. She has been hated for mostly no reason. And you have to admire someone who sticks a sanitary towel to their head and calls it art.

There are many reasons why she was hated at the time, but all of which are irrelevant now

A girl I knew in the 70's was a big fan of Yoko and wrote her a fan letter. Yoko sent her a personal chatty reply thanking her, so everyone in our circle warmed to her as a result.

I thought she was a bit strange, however I used to hate it when she just made noise during songs. Like in this one Chuck Berry' s eyes say it all.

I don't hate but she was very annoying at times.

After all, they did answer the question that was, apparently, supposed to invite debate!

    Strange thread all round.

To Jersey porter and all the other back biters... why do you come onto threads and start whining like sheep ?

If a thread is rubbish, just ignore it... go start your own thread
there are too many people on ds who just want the opportunity to moan and back bite....
    go get a life !

This thread is for bryem, honey, duff and others who wish to discuss the Beatle Wives
all the rest go take a hike !

Yoko on Jonathan Ross earlier this year was very, very strange. The interview was great, really interesting but I had to switch off when she was wrapping Jonathan in bandages, it was just too weird!:D

Cynthia Lennon was quite popular so when it became known that Cynthia had come home from holiday with her son Julian and Yoko was sitting wearing a dressing gown in John and Cynthia's house, it sort of put a damper on thinking of Yoko as a really great human being. In terms of art, she was very influenced by John Cage and others.
Then there was the length of time it took after John's death, for Julian to be given much at all. However, she's an elderly lady now and went through a nightmare- so I hope most people wish her well.

There was never the same publicity for the
    Rolling Stones wives....
Marianne Faithful was probably an exception
she was out there, a singer, an actress...
a star of the swinging sixties in her own write !

( How long before some pleb comes on to post
... she was never married to Mick Jagger ! )

Yoko is the one I admire most. She has just got on with her life and is a respected artist. I know John being killed was terrible for her, but she's never cashed in on it.

I`m never sure what I think of Yoko. She can actually come across as being quite sweet. But really, she has done little but cash in on John. She has turned him into a multi-million dollar industry, and whitewashed his image in the process.

Nice. But you are not very good at opening up discussion - you really needed to do some research first.

I always liked Pattie Boyd and was sad when she broke up with George Harrison. They seemed a great couple. Read her biography and she sounded a very sad Lady indeed. I was amazed to see her being interviewed about her book and she has the same voice as Camilla Parker Bowles!!!! Poor Cyn Lennon seemed to go to pieces when John Lennon left her for Yoko. I felt very sorry for her. God, you never know how These People REALLY live, I remember being so envious of Linda getting Paul and yet during their early days of marriage she was dealing with her Young daughter, being pregnant and Paul falling to pieces cos the Beatles had broken up and hitting the Whiskey! AND spending days in bed on their remote farm in Scotland!!!!

The lovely Heather always did it for me - but the fans were just jealous of her.

Wonder if it all went wrong for Pattie when
George bought that huge mansion ... Friar Palace or whatever it was called .

Maybe they began drifting apart around that time .

I don't know about that. Bianca Jagger, Jerry Hall were high profile figures who got a lot of publicity.

As was Anita Pallenberg who also gets credited as having a quite a strong input in the group itself.

And of course there's Mandy Smith!

They were all lookers (with the exception of Yoko )
but Marianne F. was probably the most attractive and sexy of them all .
Mick and Marianne were the hippest Rock Couple
    of the entire 60s...
( wonder did Marianne dump Mick or vice versa ? )

    Ringo married a German
    Paul married a Yank
    George married a Bolivian
    John married a Japanese

When the guys and their wives all got together, it must
have been like a meeting of the United Nations !

Please do some research before starting a thread. You have what I have highlighted above completely wrong.

Ringo married an Englishwoman (Maureen) and then an American (Barbara Bach).

George married an Englishwoman (Patti) and then a Mexican-born American (Olivia).

I really don't think its Johnny who needs to do their research.

Neither of Ringo`s wives are or were German. Unless you know of a third Mrs Starkey who no one else knows about.
