Unfortunate town name, but questions must be asked. Why is a child playing GTA? and how is he able to access a gun? Murica!
An eight-year-old boy intentionally gunned down his grandmother minutes after playing the violent video game Grand Theft Auto IV, US authorities said.
The town of Slaughter, Louisiana, is in shock after the child was able to access the family's gun and shoot the 90-year-old in the head while she was watching television.
The woman, who was helping to look after the boy, was pronounced dead at the scene at the Country Breeze Mobile Home Park.
Sheriff's deputies have not revealed a motive but they pointed out the child was playing the video game before the fatal shooting.
The game, which is rated "M" for mature audiences and is recommended for ages 17 and older, has been associated with encouraging violence and awards points to players for killing people.
The child told investigators that he accidentally shot the woman while playing with a firearm, WAFB-TV reported.
But evidence has led investigators to believe the child intentionally shot her in the back of the head as she watched TV, it added.
Neighbour Johnnie Scott told Fox8live.com: "Where did she have the gun?

"Where did he see the gun, was it in his eyesight? That's the thought that goes through my head."
Child psychologist Kristopher Kaliebe said access to a violent video game such as Grand Theft Auto IV may encourage aggressive behaviour.
He said: "From a behaviour therapy perspective, I would say that's practicing.
"So if you have a video game where someone shoots at a target, that's sort of practicing shooting at a target.
"When you have a video game that is shooting at a human being, that is practicing shooting at a human being."
The child is being looked after by his parents. The authorities are treating the shooting as a "homicide".
The boy cannot be charged with a crime because of his age, the sheriff's office said.
Louisiana law states: "Those who have not reached the age of 10 years are exempt from criminal responsibility."

But yeah, why was he playing the game in the first place and more to the point how did he easily gain access to a weapon? Of course neither of these questions will be raised by the US media, they will just focus on the violence in the game itself.
8 year old has access to a firearm = Parental fail
People need to stop blaming video games and start taking some fooking responsibility.
Hear, Hear- they ignore all the warnings given to them, I once politely asked a mother in GAME whether she realized the content in the game she was giving to a child of a similar age to this case included violence, prostitution and was adult in nature, her response 'Well they all play it now,' Parents are shocking!
population: morons
It's a terrible occurence, but he shouldn't have been playing it and maybe it would be an idea to keep guns locked away from kids. Jeez i keep the bleach out the way.
The Child for doing it
The Parents for not raising the child to know better + leaving GTA and a Gun in plain view
The Grandparent for watching TV and not the child
Take your pick, or choose all three they are all right answers
With the internet and the new generation on console getting press coverage on gaming i can see a small glimmer of a future where stuff like this starts getting shut down at the source
I'm sure right now though twitter is a blaze with local morons (to that area) calling for a games burning or something similar
A sensible parent wouldn't give a child free access to a horror movie, or pornography, or a bottle of vodka. But apparently, an adult-only videogame is ok??
When will these people learn?
Why would you allow a child that young access to a gun, GTA maybe.. a gun???
I almost killed myself at the age of 14 going through my step fathers gun collection so I know just how awful this can be, I'd never let my kids play with guns

Access? These tools buy their kids guns!
Sad state of affairs in this case but how he was able access that gun is just madness!
On a serious note i would place no blame on the kid. If you let an 8 year play a violent video game where he can shoot people all day and then leave a gun lying around it doesn't take a genius to figure he may actually use the real gun. I doubt an 8 year old fully understands the ramifications of murdering somebody.
Aye he'd probably had jumped off the roof of his house or something.
Obviously this kid was very young and at an impressionable age, however the biggest question has to be how on earth did he get his hands on a gun?! The rest is irrelevant.
