I'm leaving my little girl for a week - sob!

Yes - pathetic I know - but please don't shoot me down.

I am off on holiday for a week on Thursday and it will be the first time since we got her that I am leaving my girl... I do hope she doesn't 'hate' me when I get back :o

To make things slightly more pathetic my partner is not coming away with me - so she is staying with her 'Daddy'...

I know they'll be fine, although my BF does have a sligthly more laissez faire attitude towards petcare  she'll probably be feral when I get home.

I do the bulk of the "caring" - I clean the litter tray, fed her, deflea her etc - the BF is just her playmate really!!

I bet they actually have an excellent time without me :p

Anyone else the same when it comes to leaving their little furries?

I do understand where you're coming from.
The first year we had our kitties I wouldn't go on holiday because I didn't want to leave them.:o
Even now, 12 years later, my OH has to take them to the cattery as I wouldn't be able to leave them there - I'd turn round and bring them back home!:D
At least you know she is at home and happy with someone she knows!
Are you going to ring every day to see if she's okay?:D

I understand. I really don't like leaving our cats and it does put me off going away. You know they'll be safe, which is a bonus. But it's fine to miss them. They're part of everyday life and are part of what makes your household what it is.

Are you going to miss your OH! :p

We went away just before we got her - I've stayed out on a few occasions but the BF has never left her overnight (big softie that he is)

I do worry that he'll not look after her to the high standard she is used to though - I'll leave him lots of post it notes I think :D

I'll be -8 hours and the BF will be at work so I'll limit myself to calling every other day. If only my little Amber could answer the phone then I could clal her directly  :)

Just incase he ever reads this then yes I of course will miss him - just not as much as the cat  :D

you'd probably get more sense out of her too:D

How long are you going to be parted?

 that is the most I have ever managed, too!
The bf surely can't muck it up too much during that short a time?:o :D

Well he has never, ever in 15 months changed her litter tray  and cringes when I clean it our daily!! So that will be a bit of a shock. Other than that they'll be fine - I'll probably be relegated to the cat's bed when I get back :D

It'll be good training for the bf, he needs to do these things!
When my mum was in hospital for a fortnight I had to go round to her flat every two days to clean out the litter tray because her useless bf refused to do it! You'd think the stench would encourage them to get on with it wouldn't you!

He'll do it, I've told him unless it's cleaned every day and changed at least twice she'll poop in his shoes :D

I know, it's terrible isn't it? I miss my two when I'm away for a night and it's lovely to come home and see them rush (or saunter depending on their mood) down the stairs to greet me.

I just think a house is not a home without any kind of furries in it, and anywhere you stay that has none makes it worse!

I hope you have a great time, and at least you need not worry too much about Amber, I bet they have a great time too.

Well I am glad I am not the only one to be soppy at leaving my cat :D

And yep, I am of course glad she is at home with her 'Daddy' and not in cattery....

We'll see how she reacts when I get back - My childhood cat used to get annoyed for days and not come near me :o

I hate going away, but at least she's with her "daddy" - I was in tears the first time we left the girls for 4 days, in the care of a couple of my friends who sent me photos & updates regularly.. We got a pretty cool reception initially but I was escorted around the house for the rest of the evening !!!

She'll be fine - waiting for the fuss when you get back !

I'm just about to go and take our Samoyed to the kennels as we are leaving at 5am tomorrow.

We have someone to come in and look after the cats but I hate putting our dog in, she pulls the saddest faces. :(

I know how you feel - we are going on holiday next Tuesday for a week. Were going to leave Alf with my son here but decided we wouldn't trust him to look after a goldfish let alone our dog:rolleyes:

Looked into kennels but wasn't comfortable with it, then a friend of mine who has 3 dogs already said she would love to have him!

Alf loves other dogs so won't want to come home!

Shall be worrying all the time whilst i'm away and driving my OH nuts talking about him I expect:D

I'm glad I am not the only one feels like this :) First time for us on holiday where we have had to leave the cat behind in a cattery. We' had 11 days away and the last three days couldn't go quick enough for us. Not that we didn't enjoy the holiday -but began to really miss our cat and feeling sorry for her being couped up in a cattery instead of being outside catching butterflies.

next years holiday will now be cut back to 7 days only lol.

They are always a bit 'shocked' by their first stay in a cattery - the more often she goes, the less she will mind it (oh and she will have a companion next time won't she!) Mine go in three times a year, never for more than a week, and they seem to get on fine there now.

I put my Impossible Princess in the cattery when I went to Denver for two weeks.

She was fine with her Classic FM, massage and watching the tame wood pigeons dance over the lawns.

She came home early too and my friend looked after her for 3 days.

She wasn't in a huff when I got home. I know I can leave her in the cattery should I wish to go away again.

Your relationship with your Impossible Princess always makes me chuckle, it's so cute! :D

Well I've been and gone!!! BF and cat were in one piece when I got back.....

Amber took to hiding under the bed initially, but within an hour or two she was out and after a day she was all over me again!!!

I must confess that although I missed her terribly (and yes I did "speak" to her a few times ) it wasn't as bad as I thought!!

I'd not leave her again anytime soon though :o

I went away with my other half for 5 days last month. My father in law always come round twice a day to feed the cat and fish while were gone.

Macey completely shuns him when he comes round any other time, but when he is cat sitting she is quite affectionate with him. The minute we get back though she reverts to ignoring him (unless he's doing DIY for us and then she like to torment him by nicking his screws and generally causung mayhem).

I was quite peeved that when we arrived back this time she ran down stars miaowing like a lunatic, ran straight past me and addoringly started rubbing up against other half legs!

She couldn't have cared less that I had been gone but had obviously miss him.

Ah ! you're describing my girls to a tee ! One of them in particular worships OH - as soon as he stretchs out on the couch in the evening, along she comes straight onto his chest to cuddle him and take a nap !! The other one will climb onto the back of the couch and call him to say hello !

I feed them , brush them , clean the litter tray, talk to them,Listen to them, pet them , play with them , and anything they need... but their hearts belong to daddy !!
