Just buy teenage girls clothes. That's what my ex-wife used to do.

This is good advice. I was wearing age 13 jeans all though my twenties (pre baby!) New look have quite good teenage range, usually cheaper as I think VAT free?

Shame that Woolworths closed down. The Ladybird range might have been ideal for you.

Yes - and the only petite size supplier's clothes are still too big. I do eat chips occasionally, but try to stick to a healthy diet. I am only just 5ft tall, which doesn't help as clothes of any kind - tops skirts, dresses, jeans are all too long and it costs a fortune to have stuff altered to fit. I did not start this thread to upset people, as I've been bullied for being too small. I would love to be a size 8 or 10 but I can't change my natural shape.

I sympathise - I am 5'10 and when I was young (in the 70s) it was almost impossible to buy clothes that fit me properly... I was laughed at in shoe-shops as I had size 8 feet.

I think people are saying that blaming larger women for your difficulties isn't really fair... it is the clothing companies who don't cater for people who are not in the mainstream range. I am afraid you will just have to make your own clothes (as I did) or shop in specialist places. It's hard being at the ends of the bell curve, but isnt the fault of those who are not.

clothes for 11-13 year olds sometimes fit, but they do look overly young sometimes - don't want the mutton/lamb look going on for all occasions. Children's clothes often have the wrong motifs on them too.

I can sew but not make - thrown out of dressmaking class at school because I'm useless .... yet another of my failings! I would love to be tall like you Jesaya - or even just a couple of inches nearer the sky, it would be so much easier. Not sure about the foot size though!

Yes I used to have to seek out the plainest ones! I'm also 5ft, length of clothes is a nightmare. Have you tried petite ranges?

Where to find clothes for smaller women ?

There's people of all sizes...bit of an inflammatory thread!

I tend to agree with this, the OP cant find clothes and she is small, so she blames women larger than herself?

I have a wedding coming up this summer and started searching for the appropriate gear in February. I went to the groom;s first wedding 5 years ago and ended up wearing all black as it was the only thing I could find which nearly fitted - It was the hottest of hot days and everyone else was cool wearing floaty, summery stuff - I just sweltered!

Men and women come in all different shapes and sizes and many of us have difficulty finding clothes off-the-peg that fit perfectly. But most people don't blame the shape of others for their trouble in finding well-fitting clothes.

You would not have enjoyed it when I was young! When I was growing up I couldn't wear children's clothes and had to wear adult dresses etc. I looked like a badly packed floral print sand-bag.

Find a good dressmaker - might cost more but at least your wardrobe will fit properly even if it is more limited.

    Oh get over yourself.

    Very obvious a WU thread.

You could always choose from the 8 year old's sizes, OP

Possibly, but tentention doesn't hurt anyone - in fact it's good to let one's feelings out, be it from the smaller or larger female.

No, not a wind up - I get so sick of being politically correct all the time - mustn't upset anyone these days, though I am not trying to hurt anyone, I just want to discuss my problem.

Nonsense. They are not being phased out because of larger women (and I am one of them)

My mum was a size 6-8 her whole life and could NEVER get clothes to fit, and back then shops didn't even sell plus sized clothes.

As someone also 5 10, finding clothes like dresses that fit is a pain too - the waists are in the wrong place. I think manufacturers are still cutting clothes to a size ideal from the 1940s - our diets have improved and people are getting taller - my niece is 6 2 and most or her friends are over 5 8.

There is no discussion if you say 'larger women spoil your shopping experience'

but its unfair to vent your feelings when its not larger womens fault companies dont supply decent ranges of clohing. for example I am goingon holiday in sept and I have a large chest and I cant get any nice looking swimwear only plain horrible stuff. its annoying i gotta go to places ssuchh as simply be for swimwear insteadd of tthe high street butt i dont go 'damn you average sized chestted women, you spoil it for people with bigger boobs':p

Zara are enormous on me - H&M are the only store which works for me, though sometimes their XS size is too big on my waist and sleeves often have to be altered as too long. Not an H&M within many miles of me, but get there on rare occasions. I even went to buy opaque tights in M&S during the winter and the assistant had to search their storeroom for a pair small enough, as 'there isn't a lot of call for that size' - tights for heavens sakes - not a ballgown!

As a small, very slim woman I am finding it increasingly hard to find clothes to fit me - I'm a size 6 (non dieter). Every time I go clothes shopping I am told at each store that there is 'very little call for my size'. Large women are spoiling clothes shopping for the slighter figure.

    Diddums.

OP, if a larger woman had difficulty in finding clothes for herself, what would you advise? Whatever advice that would be, it is also good advice for yourself

Do something about it, be more normal? Is that what you would tell them?

Perhaps op you could take sewing lessons and do your own alterations - much cheaper.

I'm envious of your big boobs and didn't vent my feelings in that regard. I'm only a 32D and would love to be naturally bigger. Mrs Gilbert - flaunt those boobs!!!
