They really haven't pushed that fact as much as they should have. They're underselling it
It's also lightning fast, so I'll definitely be downloading the final release.
I like it
It will be even better once all my add ons catch up with it!
Although it updates them automatically so I don't have to worry
a. Enter the URL about:config
b. Find the setting network.http.pipelining, and set it to YES
c. Find the setting network.http.proxy.pipelining and set it to YES
This enables Firefox to download 4 pictures simultaneously from a website. By default it only does one at a time.
Some websites advise tweaking other related settings, but they don't really have much effect IMO.
Looks as if the download will be available from 10AM PDT, ie 6PM London time

Yes, but not ALL websites are compatible with pipelining though..............most, but not all. It does however make a very noticeable difference to the speed at which you surf websites though compared to other recommendations from other websites of how to speed up the browser. I was reading something very interesting yesterday though, and this is that quite a few websites claim that if you set this number to 30, it will make no difference, as Firefox can only handle 8 pipelining requests at a single time. They also said that setting your paint delay to 0 will not make surfing the internet faster, but just display the images quicker within the browser..........as if I didn't know that. Anyway, the pipelining thing is a bit of an eye opener for me. Here's the website I got this from. It's a sort of a bit of a slow site in terms of actually getting there. At least it is at the time of making this post.

In the majority of situations, yes.
The main development area for both Opera and FF3 seems to be Javascript handling, and benchmarks seem to use http://webkit.org/perf/sunspider-0.9/sunspider.html. On my PC (64-bit Ubuntu Linux system), FF3 RC1 runs these between 80% and 200% quicker than Opera 9.50 Beta 1.
However I don't think there is a definitive proof that either browser is quicker. Each user will have to work that out for themselves.
I may post the benchmark results here once I have the final versions of both products installed.
Either way, both Opera 9.50 and Firefox 3 Release candidates both run rings around IE7. I tried out IE8 beta 1 a couple of weeks ago and it seems highly unstable, ie not yet fit for consumer use.
It's on the servers now. I just downloaded it because as far as i'm concerned "download day" started at 00:00 UTC and not 17:00UTC.
Of course, my download wont count towards their record, but i don't really care about that.
Mac OS X
Linux
Windows
That's the release candidate not the final.
It's both. RC3 and the final are exactly the same (that's the entire purpose of Release Candidates).
But this is exactly the same version of Firefox you will get whether you download it now or wait until 18:00. It's already been pushed to the main Mozilla download mirrors in preparation for the official launch.

Just installed it.
Like sh*t off a shovel!
Just got to wait for many of my preferred Extensions to be made compatible .........
Get rc3
No problems I have found with it at all
Will be interesting to see if they've sorted the "memory haemorrhaging" that FF is now famous for.
Dave
I think not - my FF3.0 has crept up from 30MB to 75MB in next to no time!
(And the Restart button is awol, pro-tem ..............)
