I didn't go to Uni. I started work as a trainee journalist aged 18 in the September after I left school after A Levels. If I had gone to Uni though I was looking at Durham to do English Lit or History.

When it was still affordable... you must have been one of the last lot to get full grants? :)

I do sometimes wonder if I missed out by not going to Uni but I have to say, I had an almost 20 year career as a journalist until having my son and loved every single minute of it.

And it's never too late for you to do an university degree as a mature student, part time or full time :)

Yeah, I keep looking at an Open University BA as you can choose your subjects and I could do both English Lit and History and then follow it up with a one year PGCE to go into teaching. But I'm 43 now and the thought of having to go back to that much studying is a bit frightening!
