And Kate Vernon, one of the Starfleet Captains in this, was Ellen Tigh on the new school Battlestar Galactica. And Gary Graham, the Vulcan Ambassador is playing the SAME character he played on Star Trek Enterprise, only older. And Alec Peters, the only amateur here, is actually a crossover with Star Trek Phase II, because apparently Garth of Izar exists there too (but otherwise this is a completely separate production from the Phase II stuff).
Star Trek Axanar and Star Trek Phase II are actually sister productions. Alec Peters was also part of the Phase II production crew until recently (as all his time has to now be concentrated on Axanar). Phase II has provided a lot of support to help Axanar get started. If you look at the credits of Axanar, you will find a lot of names from the Phase II team listed there. Our subtitling team (which I coordinate by the way), continues to support Star Trek Axanar by creating captions and subtitles in multiple languages for them.
Whereas Star Trek New Voyages: Phase II concentrates on the time period of the forth season of TOS, Axanar is set at the time before TOS started with the 4 years war with the Klingons.
